Their sensitivity varies over 1000 times(That’s 10,0000% Do you want to spend hours looking for small leaks with an insensitive leak detector for the refrigerant you are looking for? Do you want to use a leak detector that is only sensitive to 50 parts per million R410a instead of 0.2 parts per million? Parts per million is a measure of how much refrigerant is in the air. I can guarantee that you are going to miss a lot of small 1 pound per year R410a leaks with a majority of the leak detectors that I have tested. I created this report out of necessity. I have been in the HVAC business for 20 years and HCFC R410a and Puron have really made finding leaks difficult. The tried and true R22 leak detectors from 10 years ago don't pick up R410a or Puron. The reliable Bacharach H10 is 100x less sensitive to R410a compared to R22. Which leak detector do you want to use? You are probably like me and want to use the absolute most sensitive leak detector to find leaks in less than 60 seconds. That is what I did for 20 years on R22. But. I had to buy an $8000 Inficon HLD4000 to get decent R410a sensitivity. AFTER BUYING ALL THE POPULAR LEAK DETECTORS, I have found a couple that are just as sensitive as an $8000 Inficon. I have multiple videos documenting all the laboratory grade leak detector sensitivity testing. Some of the detectors are sensitive in the parts per billion(ppb) range. That means. Im selling a vintage brass gauge thats marked on its front and its back Hornung. It measures at longest points 3 1/2 inches wide by 8 1/2 inches long, it has threaded pipe extensions on both its sides that measure around 1/2 of an inch across the inside centers as well as a pipe extension at the top right below the gauge that has a brass bolt threaded into it plus a threaded bolt on its base. The gauge is numbered plus also marked Hornung and it has threads with a bolt so it can be turned to any position plus i come across this by chance so it was never tested.
