Vintage siebe gorman salvus oxygen rebreather from 1943 w desco mask
I have for sale one very rare and very vintage circa 1943 salvus salvas seibe gorman rebreather. It is not working but it appears all the parts are there. The hoses are complete but detached. There are 2 hoses. Not one. Look closely at the diagram for details of the hose routing. The mask with this unit appears to be a desco jack browne and is rather perished and not diveworthy. The unit itself is not being sold as diveworthy but simply as a relic of WWII WW2 and the early UDT days. This is the only one like this I have ever seen. The bottle is stamped with a born on date of 1942. This makes sense as I believe the Salvus rebreather was first introduced in 1943. This would indicate that this was one of the first ones they made. Man if this SCUBA unit could talk. I can imagine SEA HUNT Mike Nelson using this in his war years before he became ... morea free lance adventurer. The unit also has 3 weights mounted to it and you can hear the sodasorb scrubber material in the can when shaken. I am selling this unit in all of it's barn dirty glory. I know nothing about these rare museum pieces and I dont want to mess it up taking it apart or cleaning it. The lucky museum or collector that wins it will get to restore and or clean it. The valve on the tank move freely and the counterlung appears to be there but is very perished. The whole unit weighs about 25 pounds so shipping will be a bear but it is worth it for this rare piece. I wanted to do a trade for this item but was unable to find anybody out there with a nice trade deal on vintage double hose regulators so off to the bay it goes. Hello there. What we have up for sale today is a Siebe Gorman Double Hose Regulator from my collection. And this a Reg. that I really didnt want to sell because it is a Very Nice Regulator. I also have hooked this regulator up to one of my tanks and it breathes fine. Although I have not dove this Regulator. I feel like I could dive it I wanted to. My disclaimer: Any and All scuba gear should be tested by a certified professional Before you or anyone else uses this equipment to scuba dive. This equipment should be considered for display only. Now what I think in( my opinion But you make your own judgment. With just a little research on this regulator. The reason I decided to do some research because of the inscription that is on the regulator. The words T. Siebe gorman diving helmet shaped smoking pipe.1875 to 1910 I think. I must admit I do collect antiques thow pipes are not of my experties. the pipe is marked siebe gorman on one side and london made on the other slightly worn but still very clear to read. The pipe has no damage on the outer and the inner is realy clean for its age. I have had it looked at by auctioneers and the pipe is genuine. It as a fine example of siebe gormans work and a reminder of what we acieved in the ocean and how far we have come from then. Siebe Gorman escape equipment. This is an up to dated version of a what I believe to be submarine escape equipment, which I think was also used as a rebreather. I have enclosed photos showing a version of this kit being used. The kit is in very good condition, it comes with a mouth piece and hose, goggles(Siebe Gorman)a small bag which has a aluminium container on the in side and a small cylinder. Vintage Siebe Gorman scuba dive double hose chrome/nickel( plated brass metal regulator. With hose& mouth piece. Seller not a collector or knowledgeable on this subject. Embossed label on gold metal diamond shape tag reads: ESSGEE MISTRAL SIEBE GORMAN CHESSINGTON SURREY COUSTEAU-GAGNAN PATENTS" The finish on the gold tag is dark, so the label is a little difficult to make out. RARE SIEBE GORMAN SUBMARINE LAMP / DIVERS LAMP WITH ORIGINAL GLASS & CAGE
An interesting and rare vintage Siebe Gorman divers submarine lamp. Dating to the mid 20th century. The lamp is made of very heavy gauge gunmetal/ bronze and has the makers name Siebe Gorman& Co Ltd. London cast into the top, it is complete with original armourlight glass which sits on an O ring top and bottom to make it watertight, it is clamped together by the four bolts and has its original removeable external cage to protect the glass. It measures 15 3/4" tall with a 5 1/2" diameter. Most of the soldered joins on the cage have been repaired and some look a little bright. But this should blend in over time, otherwise it is all in very good vintage condition with no cracks to the glass and a nice verdigris patination to the gunmetal. Siebe Gorman Heinke Twin-hose Merlin Regulator
Heinke Merlin twin-hose regulator with spare twin-hoses and three Siebe Gorman mouthpieces. One of the regulator hoses has cracks but the spare hoses are OK. It has been lying up for a long period and is probably in need of a good strip down and an overhaul. There is a contents gauge attached and the oil in it is a bit discolored. I think it can be refilled. These regulators were the top of the range in their day and the main body is a solid casting and not a pressing as in later regulators. The valves are intact in the mouthpiece end of the spare twin-hoses.

Almost a 100 years before Darth Vader and 3-CPO hit the big screen in“Star Wars” in 1977, this smoke helmet was worn by firefighters carrying out rescues in smoke filled buildings. The buzz among collectors is that George Lucas’ designers found inspiration in this smoke helmet and others like them. This piece is an ultra rare 1878 Siebe Gorman Firemen's Rescue Smoke Mask Helmet& Bellow. This is an early Siebe Gorman smoke mask accompanied by a wood, leather, brass, and iron bellow(with attached brass horn that sounds an alarm in case of fire) The bellow works perfectly and it sounds incredibly loud when used with the detachable brass horn. The helmet is largely made of toughened leather with simple safety/exhaust valve to top, makers plate, twin mica hinged square ports with securing pin. The front has doors that swing open and use Mica to see through. The window frame is aluminum. Aluminum was a new and unique metal, durable, lightweight, and resistant to tarnishing. At the time, it was considered quite rare and valuable. These helmets would attach to a long hose that ran to a foot operated bellows. The fireman would then go into a smokey building to rescue those trapped within. The hose was his only air supply and lifeline. Signals were given by tugs on the hose.1 tug was for more air, 2 tugs less air and 3 was for help. This is one of the oldest examples we have come across. The patina and wear is amazing and shows a great deal of history. You had to be a real hero to go into the blaze with this. This helmet is eerie, powerful and strangely hypnotic.
