Hi. This is Don. If you have one of the old brown Emerson fans and it will not run. This might be why. My old fan would hum and would try to run if I spun the blades. I researched a value for the cap and come up with this one. Ran my fan all last summer, and this cap works great. The old cap was a big square metal can, this one is very small, but it is correct. Will work for the 12 or 16" fan. I believe this cap brought the rpm range down for much more suitable speeds as well. I'm certain you will like this cap, if you need more than one, let me know.
