This sander is model# 6101 and it comes from the"Heavy Duty" line of vintage B&D tools that had a solid steel housing. Although this sander has been used. It still works great. It has a 7.0 AMP motor and is capable of producing 4500 RPM. These sanders were definitely built to last and are almost indestructible. The only minor flaw is that the cord has been wrapped/patched with electrical tape. The sander has been vacuumed and wiped down, so it is free of loose dust/junk. When I bought this grinder it had a split cord. So I rewired it and it runs fine. There is no hesitation with the RPMs. And it does not generate any suspicious smells or noises when running. The cord is grounded and fairly heavy. No tools are required to change the wheel. The wheel that is on it now is worn; it needs replacing.
