This is a vintage Midget single row planter. On the front we have highlighted the words in chalk so they show up in the picture. It says Midget Pat Dec 8-14 K2. The dial on top has Bean. Peas, Beat Pars Rad Onion Lettuce, Closed, K22. It measures approx 8" across wheel. The hopper is approx 4" x 4" It is missing the handle. The wheel turns freely& the dial turns. It is rusty& corroded from use& age& has alot of character. Great decor item for Garden, Yard, Shop, Cabin, etc.

John Deere 7000 planter 4 row narrow 30 inch rows, field ready
Nice little John Deere 7000 4 row 30 inch narrow row planter. I bought it early last year hoping to rent a little ground and do a bit of hobby farming. It didn't work out that I could rent any ground last year or this year so I have decided to sell the planter and give my dad back some shed space. The planter is fully serviced and everything works great- all you need to do is set the population add seed and go to the field. This planter was a wide row from the factory. The only difference is in the axle and the markers. The frame is the same, so a previous owner shortened up the axle and the marker tubes. The workmanship is excellent- take a look at the picture of the axle. It was saw cut- not torched, set to the right width and a telescoping pipe slid over the joint for strength. Look at the quality of the welds- it may not be factory ... moreJohn Deere, but its done absolutely right. The disk openers are nearly new- the beveled edge is very distinct and they measure 15 inches. The scrapers behind the gauge wheels were new at the same time. They show almost no wear. I replaced one gauge wheel bearing and shimmed all of them to ride as close to the disks as possible. The seed hoppers are brand new poly with new lids. There are corn meters installed and they were disassembled, cleaned, and set back to the correct tension on the finger assembly. The markers alternate every cycle as they should. I had all the chains off the planter. There are no stiff links and all chains are lubricated. I also took the spring loaded tensioners off the row units and cleaned the stiff grease and dirt out so they all work like they were designed to. I planted a little bit of corn in the hay field and all rows are working well and dropping accurately. The planter has the wavy coulters mounted ahead of the rows so it could be used in minimum tillage conditions. I do have a set of bean cups that will be included. I haven't tried to use them, and a couple of them are stiff turning. Two of them have cracked tubes that have electrical tape

John Deere 494 planter, ready to go, 4 row, same vintage as 520 620 720 tractor
John Deere model 494 planter. This is a 1958 model. First year of production for the 494. The planting mechanism is field ready, I've been through it and checked it out. It didn't need a lot of attention, just cleaned the grease that had hardened up out of some of the moving parts. The gearbox is good, I've filled it with oil, the clutch works fine, turns on and off every time. The drill shafts are cleaned up so you can slide them when you shift gears 1, 2 or 3 on the gearbox. I cleaned the marker chain rollers in the lift mechanism and buffed a little rust off the switching latch and put a little graphite on it. It is missing the piece that bolts to the drawbar that pulls the marker alternating chains, it does have the springs. This piece could be easily fabricated out of 1 inch flat iron. The seed cans are in very nice shape, ... morethe roller knockers are free in each unit, the plates turn freely. It has a set of bean plates in it, that is what was in it when I bought it. It did not come with any corn plates, but they are readily available here on eBay and you can buy the size that fits the grade of corn you intend to plant. You do not need a very big or powerful tractor to pull this planter, 20 horsepower is enough as long as it can operate a hydraulic cylinder. You will need to have an 8 inch stroke hydraulic cylinder as it is not being sold with one. The row spacing is adjustable from 40 inches down to about 34 inches. I think the frame has holes to go in to 32 or 30 but the seed cans will hit the tires. I think its set at 36 now, I forgot to measure it. The fertilizer boxes are pretty solid. But one box has a hole rusted through on the bottom. Its about 1.5 by 2 inches and you can see part of the hole under the auger in the last picture. The rubber spouts were all dried out and broken when I got it, so I removed the drive chain and you'll have to do a little sheet metal repair and get the hoses if you want to apply fertilizer. Row width is set at 30" which is the most common. This is a 3 point mounted planter with cat 1 pins. Brackets are bolt on so they can be easily adjusted in or out. Planter stands are included which allows for easy hookups. Included is set of sprockets for changing seed population. These are stored conviently inside the planter bar(see pic) Sprockets in use are placed at the end of the bar where they are easy to get at and change if wanted. Comes with a seeding chart to determine which sprocket to use for a certain population. Seeding depth is adjustable with the quick adjust T handle. Planter has truvee openers with dual guage wheels for accurate seed placement. Press wheels have ... moreadjustable down pressure. Seed tubes have sensors installed so that if a monitor wanted to be added at a later date. It could easily be done. Boxes have corn meters installed. Can be fitted with optional milo or soybean meters. Takes about a minute per row to change. I sell the bean meters for $50 per row, add $25 per row if you want milo also. Other options I can add if wanted: 1) Furrow openers are 2 discs positioned in a v-shape in front of the seed discs. Used to clear trash and clods in front of the opener. Helps level the ground for the planter row unit. I can add these for $100 each. 2) Insecticide boxes are the rear box that sets behind the seed box. These are used to apply insecticide with the seed in furrow. These could also be used for planting small seeds like turnips. Some have also used for fertilizer. But I do not recommend for this.
