The calf height is adjustable and the spurs can be replaced. The bottom foot stirrup has a hinged metal buckle that moves(tightens up) when weight is on the spur. These are an Older/Vintage set of climbers and have a Very Nice aged patina. They show some wear with surface rust on the metal. But should clean up nicely should you choose to do so. The leather upper leg pads are missing the straps but are in Great shape(not hard or dry) It appears and smells like the pads have had some kind of saddle soap put on the leather. Klein 1907 arborist/linemans pole/tree climbing spikes gaffs with Buckingham 3500c Velcro straps. Good condition. They have been used for a while, I have used myself and they work great. The length is adjustable as well as the straps for legs and ankles. The spikes are replaceable. There is a srew missing from one of the shaft, I have used it without but a new set of screws are $5-$8.

All this gear has been tested and seems to function as it should. Not sure how old tis setup is. I have had it at least 10 years and think it could 15-20yrs I bought this equipment to do some arborist work in the mountains. However being this is safety equipment. Tree/ Pole Climbing Spikes Leather Padded Melling Forging Co. Up for auction are a set of tree/pole climbing spikes. I do not know how old they are but they have the following stamped on each of them: MELLING FORGING CO. LANSING MICH. Brooks Patent No. 1956852 Below is a link to the patent that George Brooks filed in 1933. They are certainly used but all the pieces seem to be there. The leather padded shin guards. The leather straps and the metal buckles. The leather is aged and I would be leery using them to climb anything without making sure they are still safe to use. It looks like the iron was painted red at one time. The one upper belt looks like it has either a“06” or a“90” stamped on it. I don’t see any other markings on the item. They measure about 18 inches high and the spikes are about 3 ½ inches long. They may not be a matching ... moreset. The one is about an inch longer than the other and one has three straps to hold the shin guard in place where the other just has two. Please look at all the pictures to evaluate the condition for yourself. You are bidding on what is shown in the pictures. I am sure they can be brought back to life but they would also make great display pieces for that retired lineman or tree climber.
