This is a set of Vintage Melling Forging Company climbing spikes. It includes the spikes or gaffs along with the belt. The leather needs to be conditioned but is still in very good shape for its age. The only flaw is there is one rivet missing on one of the leg spikes. These are pretty much ready to be used or to be hung on the wall. They are a great functional piece of history and were used in the forest locally for climbing and limbing. Items come as pictured. The spikes look very nice. Steel parts appear to be in very good condition. On the leather it says 3120. I did take a close up of the only problem I found and that was on one side of one spike where the leather has a tear or been cut. I assume that can be repaired or replace and this would be a great set of climbing spikes. Other than that a very nice set of spikes. GOOD LUCK

Pair of older Buckingham spikes and Rose climbing belt. I'm no expert on either so feel free to ask questions regarding condition. The one is missing the foot strap which can be purchased on the Buckingham website. The leg pads show obvious wear and the leather straps show wear and have some age cracking. The gaffs have been re-sharpened at some time it appears. Model LC-5 16" The Rose manufacturing belt is in nice used condition. This auction features a really nice pair of Klein Tools#8210 climbing spikes or gaffs. They are in great condition and were only worn a couple of times before being stored away. You can see just how nice they really are in my pictures. The metal spikes measure 10" from the top to the sharp point. Each calf strap has the number 5301 9.each of the lower straps that are hooked to the ring have the numbers 5301 26. Both of the climbers have the Klein Tools name stamped on them along with the number 8210 L for the left climber and 8210 R for the right climber. Up for sale is a used set of Bell System Burgess model 1-83 climbing spikes/spurs. I really don't know a whole lot about these. I bought them off of someone on ebay over 3 years ago with the intention of doing some climbing to clear some trees on my property. I have had an injury that has kept me from using them. I loaned them to a friend. And he stated that they worked fine for him. I'm not going to be using them any time soon, so it is time to sell. These are used. And seem to be in decent condition. The leather is in okay shape, there are some cracks and a lot of dust and a little bit of mold on them(can be easily wiped off) The buckles all look like they work okay. The leather straps are marked with a 27 or 2.7 not sure…see photos. The belt straps have had extra holes made to shorten the size. The large leather belt is marked on the buckles Miller Equip Co Franklin Penna Tested 4086 tested. The belt sizing measurement I am giving is laid flat measuring from the tongue to the first hole which is 37” to the last hole. 45”see photo. Belt is heavy and worn with some broken stitches. Cloth covered positioning strap hardware is marked M. Klein& with the number WE43045 on the metal strip that attaches the belt to snap hook also marked Bell System D M. Klein& Sons 7-62. Bolen leather leg protectors. 4646 imprinted on them. They don't appear to have seen much use either. They are still stiff from storage and little usage. Spikes are adjustable. Can be lengthened or shortened according to need. Main bar is 16" long before adding length. Lengthening bar is 7" which would allow for about 4" additional length. Very sturdy. On the one the leather should be stitched and they are old but I do believe they could still be used. The leather straps still work and are stiff but pliable. VINTAGE UTILITY POLE LINEMAN TREE CLIMBING CLIMBERS GAFFS SPIKES HOOKS SPURS
These climbing hooks belonged to my dad. He worked for a gas and electric company in California for about 30 years. He purchased these in the early 60's and used them up until about'72 when he became a supervisor. After that they were only used on the 4th of July when he would climb the pole in our neighborhood and turn out the street light so we could light our fireworks in the dark. The poles are still in pretty good condition. The hooks are aluminum and the spikes are steel with leather binding at the top and bottom. That being said. They are VINTAGE. One set of spikes are for poles and the other set is for trees(a little longer) The tree spikes are taped to the hooks as you can see in the pictures. The upper straps(around the calf area) are adjustable up and down depending on how long you need them. The aluminum hooks themselves ... moreare about 19" from the bottom of the hook up to the top.
