Patent number is Brooks 1956852, patent can be seen at this clickable link: The steel shafts. Boot rests and spikes are in good condition with some surface rust here and there. The metal buckle parts and rivets on the leather are more rusted. The spikes are in great shape and look like they have been in their original leather covers for quite some time. There has been no cleaning or restoration done to these items. The leather is stiff and has quite a bit of aging and discoloration. They measure about 17" high. I have posted 11 photos. The following auction is for a vintage set of Bell Climbing spikes. They are used. They are quite dirty and surface rusty. They need cleaned up. The spikes although dirty. Seem to be in decent shape. The leather pieces and straps they attach to are in pretty sad shape. They are flexible but look dry rotted and weak. I don't think I would just strap these on and climb a pole. The metal would be fine,but the leather is wore and dry. On the metal spike part they are marked WE07890 Bell System-C Buckingham MFG Co. Then it says something NY. I am not sure how to measure them but at their longest point they would be 18 inches from spike to top of the metal tip. They can be adjusted maybe an inch or two. I think they leather would clean up.But the leather strapping is pretty beat. The one leather strap was replaced with a newer vinyl looking ... morestrap. They are marked left and right. ONE VINTAGE PAIR KLEIN 1901-J POLE/TREE CLIMBING SPIKES THESE SPIKES HAVE CLIMBED MANY TELEPHONE POLES IN THEIR DAY! SINCE. THEIR RETIREMENT, THE SPIKES HAVE BEEN IN STORAGE. THEY ARE IN VERY NICE. SOLID CONDITION. THERE ARE NO BREAKS. CRACKS OR WELDS ON THEM. THERE IS SOME SURFACE RUST. THE ORIGINAL OWNER DID SECURE A TWISTED WIRE IN ONE OF THE ADJUSTMENT HOLES- PROBABLY FOR SECURITY AND INSURANCE! AS YOU CAN SEE IN PICTURE#3- 1901-J IS STAMPED ON THE SPIKE. IT IS PROBABLY STAMPED ON THE OTHER ONE ALSO. BUT IS PARTIALLY HIDDEN UNDER THE ADJUSTMENT PANEL. PICTURE#5 SHOW THE KLEIN STAMP AND U.S.A. PLEASE CONTACT ME WITH ANY QUESTIONS.
