Original EAGLE Tractor Pickering Governor Hit Miss Gas Engine Steam Oiler NICE!!
This is an extremely hard to find original Pickering governor for an Eagle tractor. I believe it was used on several sizes of the tractor. It is in excellent condition with no cracks. Breaks, or repairs that I can see or know about. It has the original drive pulley on it and also the original brass linkage arm. It is missing the original cast iron cover but I'm sure you could scare one of those up or borrow one to have casted. It has very little wear in the bearing or on the shaft or the gear teeth. It turns smoothly and is ready to be used on a tractor or put on the shelf for a spare. These original governors hardly ever turn up in the wild or even at swap meets and the loose ones that are out there are tightly in collectors hands so don't miss your chance on this nice one. Circa 1920s Cast in an aluminum alloy. White Eagle Gas was purchased by Standard Oil in 1930. The first castings of their white eagle mascot were done in weather-rusting cast iron. This second casting. In aluminum(equally as scarce) was better suited for outdoor use. Displays beautifully as"antique" with scrapes consistent with many years of use(see photos) There is a tight-slight seam separation front& back center(see photos) but the piece is rock-solid. The mag had to be fiddled with sometimes so that it would not leak. Consider this purchase as a parts purchase. I do not know if it can be repaired but the parts and magazine will be worthwhile to the right person. Do not just try to go out and fire it. WHITE EAGLE OFFICE SIGN My Dad collected antiques and collectibles for many years. He enjoyed collecting gasoline memorabilia and his favorite was White Eagle Gasoline. This sign was purchased out of state over 20 years ago. I remember picking up this sign for my Dad at a moving& storage company terminal who had brought it out to California for him. The sign was reportedly from a White Eagle Gasoline facility. Maybe it could have been from a refinery? This is a very long sign. It is almost 16' in length(15' 11" actual length. At each end the sign is about 19 1/2" tall since it is missing some board at the top and bottom and it a little taller at center which is about 21" The letters are 12" tall. The top right piece of wood in the second letter"F" in the word"OFFICE" is loose. It appears ... morethat the letters were originally painted red and at some point were painted over with a different color. The originall top piece in the letter"O" in the word office was probably replaced many years ago with a much smaller piece of wood. The replacement piece looks very old as well. The sign is very old.
