Ibanez DM1000 Digital Modulation Delay Rack Mount guitar effect
Ah the original DM-1000! one of the first of the new wave of Japanese FX processers which hit the market back in the mid/late 80's- great for the time offering clean. Clear delay and related time-based FX such as Chorus, Flanging, etc. The DM-1000 offers delay times up to 900ms at 8Khz bandwidth. The delay-time is adjusted using a combination of 2 controls- One'switching time' selector and then a PLUS/MINUS multiple pot to adjust the chosen delay range up or down in time to the required delay in Milliseconds. The rest of the unit is also typical of early 80's delays. Featuring further control pots to adjust Modulation and Feedback etc. The reduced max bandwidth of 8kHz means you got a good warm delay but not super-sparkley delay which was great. And at the time this wave of Japanese imported digital units started to offer ... moregreat prices for such items which just a year or 2 previously had been out of the reach of the budget and home-studio. Anyways. A great simple delay unit which also had a'sample' or rather a'HOLD' button. Once that sound was captured into the memory chip. It would then just loop round and round infinately until one de-latched the HOLD button. You could make any snappy sound like snapping your fingers into a mic- send that fingersnap into the DM-1000 and then with it'HELD' and looping around automaticaly. You could then adjust the delay time and the captured'sample' would actualy raise/lower in pitch/time- Thus you could adjust the looping'fingersnap' sound to the required tempo! Other than that It is great as a straight delay. The sound is good and warm- not too bright and because the DM-1000 has knobs instead of cursors. You could do all sorts of wacky realtime echo-fx by latching the HOLD button and then tweaking the captured sound into all sorts of floating weird sounds!

This is a somewhat RARE effects pedal with incredible sound and versatility for a modulation and/or delay pedal. Trivia: the PDM1 has been Santana's only delay on his board since late 80's. He had a brief affair with a T-Rex Replica but then came back to the PDM1. Here is a user review I thought was accurate and fair enough. These are not my words. I will include link to the source: Ease Of Use, This is a full feature packed pedal. And easy is not the word for using this pedal. However, once you have programmed the pedal with all the sounds you need for your live gig, this pedal is better then any delay or modulation pedal I have ever come across. Used Line 6 MM-4 pedal. Some scratches from use and missing battery cover. A standard Boss style jack has been added and it can be run on a 9V supply. It will need it's own dedicated power supply and most any 9V pedal power supply will work(One Spot. 9V boss wall wart, etc) Does not run on batteries. The mod to allow it to run on 9VDC(Standard pedal supply) was done because the factory AC power supply circuit was not functional and it turned out to be a good thing. Has worked great for me and now I can use a regular pedal power supply instead of the exclusive(and expensive) Line6 adapters. Works and sounds great. Great choruses. Classic MXR Phase 90 sounds, flangers, tremelos, vibratos, rotary/leslie speaker sims, univibes, etc.

ROLAND SDE-2500 MIDI 15bit Vintage Delay With Modulation
This is a very nice. Not perfect, Roland SDE-2500. Delay time can be controlled via pedal over CV(the manual suggests a CV pedal) and there's a 1/4" jack for"hold" on the front that loops the delay indefinitely via a plug in pedal. Roland's effect processors up to this time are as much instruments as they are effects processors. For instance. The hold function allows you to sustain the delayed signal; the delayed signal can be very short. Extremely short sample lengths generate pitches other than the pitch being delayed, which can be fun. or it can loop a longer delay into a note(not quite a seamless note, however) and then you can use a MIDI enabled whammy pedal or harmonizer to change the pitch of the looped note, giving you instant pseudo-bass pedals made from your input signal(when both the"mixed output" ... moreand"delay output" jacks are plugged in, you have access to the wet signal and dry signal separately which allows this trick) You'd still need a Whammy and some MIDI pedals to do that, which aren't included. but the heart of that is the SDE-2500 and its hold function. There's also a delay bypass jack which turns off the wet signal. You can also loop very short passages via the hold pedal and play over them like a prehistoric looping pedal. The Max delay time is 750 ms. The modulation section consists of depth and speed for pitch modulation of the delayed signal. It can be set for chorus-y type effects or wild. Springy rubber-band pitch swings. The filter button is supposed to make it sound more like an"echo machine" Also, per the manual, When MIDI signal is being fed in continuously, the display may momentary goes out, but there is nothing to worry about" I don't have the manual, unfortunately, but the PDF is available from Roland's website and is educational. Template HKGRED2 Description The MS-20 was one of Korg's first major successful portable analog monosynths and even today it is still a great little machine! The MS-20 is the big brother to the MS-10. It is an analog two-oscillator monophonic lead and bass synth with hard wired and patchable connections. The hard-wiring can be overridden however. Using patch-cords. This type of hard-wired but patchable design was similar to the ARP 2600 of the late seventies. Of course the 2600 was much bigger and better. But the MS-20 offered a lot of flexible control and great sounds at a more affordable price. In addition to two analog oscillators. The MS-20 featured two resonant VCFs(filters) two VCAs, sample and hold, a noise generator, an assignable mod-wheel and lots of knobs! The VCF(filter) section is capable of high-pass, low-pass, notch and ... moreband-reject which is unique and different than your basic lowpass style filter.
