This light meter was made by General Electric in the 1950's. It's a PR-1 type of meter and has a serial number of#L57990. It comes with a brown leather carrying case which zippers to secure the meter safely. The meter does work properly when pointed toward light and depressing the button. The measurement wheel spins and moves freely. As it is supposed to. Overall, the piece is in good working order, with minimal amounts of wear. The glass lens aperture on the front of the meter is clean and clear. The leather case is worn and there is one section of the zipper which has come loose from is fabric fastener. This is for a used but in excellent condition General Electric Polyphase Watthour Meter Type V-4 A. In 1936. A completely new line of polyphase meters was introduced with the new standardized socket and A-base mountings. Unlike previous models that had several variations under the same model number, the V series had a separate model number for the type of service it was designed for: V-2(3-wire network) V-3(3-phase 3-wire) V-4(3-phase 4-wire Y; 3 stator) V-5(3-phase 4 wire Y; 2 1/2 stator) V-6(3-phase 4-wire delta; 2 stator) V-7(3-phase 4 wire; 3 stator) V-8(2-phase 5-wire) and V-10(totalizing) The V-4, V-7, and V-10 3-stator models were only made in A-base, all the others were available as either socket or A-base. Socket-type V-series meters use the same bakelite-insert base as the I-30 singlephase meter. Early V series meters had a chrome ... moresteel magnet which was replaced by an Alnico II magnet assembly in 1940 that was more resistant to surges. Antique General Electric Company Watthour Meter Type 1-14 Circa 1917
This is a vintage watthour meter manufactured by General Electric. I was from a collection that belonged to a retired electrician. It has been kept in a dry storage for several decades. This meter was used by Wisconsin Hydro Electric Co. and still has the lead seals installed by the company. The meter has been tested and does run. The seals were not broken and meter may be dusty under cover. the glass is not broken. The previous owner made a note on cover with pencil that this meter was discontinued in 1917.
