This is a vintage and very unusual/ rare Scheeffer Recording Watt Meter made by the Diamond Meter Co. out of Peoria, IL. It is currently hanging on a 2-piece wooden plaque. The meter will be removed from the wood plaque and wrapped/packed inside of a box, and this box will be inserted into a larger box alongside the wood plaque. Due to the weight of the meter(~ 15lbs) we currently have the meter resting on(3) sticky notepads to prevent ... moreit from tipping forward. The wood plaque is not very well-made, so the new owner will probably want to display it a little differently. We believe that this meter dates from either the late 1890's or early 1900's, as there are(3) patent dates on the brass tag on the front of the meter(see PIC# 2 and# 8) but we are not positive. We have not been able to locate another meter like this one, so we believe that this one is VERY RARE. It is very heavy at ~ 15lbs, and is in very good condition, but the upper glass window does have a crack running across it(see PIC# 9 and# 10) The black metal enclosure has a few chips, nics, and scratches to it too, but it still displays really well. My son works for an electric utility, and the Manager of their Meter Department collects old meters. and he has told my son that he has never seen this meter before, which is also why we believe this to be a very rare meter. Up for auction is a rare matchbook cover advertising General Electric inventing their new watthour meter I-50 type. The first completely new watthour meter in 50 years. It is a 30 stick match book produced by Lion match co. Hartford, Conn. On the back of the matchcover is a detailed advertising picture of the new meter with a floating disk. The I-50 meter was a revolutionary advance in metering. Ever since the first meters were made. Jewel bearings had been used which required periodic maintenance to keep the meter accurate. GE had started research on an improved magnetic bearing in 1940, but this was interrupted by WWII. Development of this bearing quickly resumed following the war, and this magnetic bearing significantly reduced the maintenance required and allowed longer intervals between tests. Another major improvement was to incorporate ... morethe brake magnets and full-load adjustment into the frame, simplifying construction and adjustment of the meter. The self-contained version of this model was quickly replaced by the I-55 and I-60, but transformer-rated versions were made into the 1970s and special versions into the late 1980s. The I-50 family of meters is probably the only series of meters where the register and nameplate are one piece, but meters with S/N beyond#42,400,000 do have separate registers and nameplates.

Japanese pre-war Navy Ammeter by YEW. Yokogawa Electric Works. Model# K14618. Beautiful Wood and resin construction. Comes with original case and keys. The back plate is stamped with 3 Japanese crests. I have tried the meter and it reads. Any further testing has not been done so the meter is some as-is. The meter is in great shape considering its age. It has a few scuffs and scratches and the carrying case shows it's use. Please see the close up photo of the dial. There is a little dirt on the inside of the glass. As far as I can tell. It comes from being used in the Japanese navy in the 30's. But am not sure. Thanks for looking and good luck! Depression Era Weston Electric Meter 622, 1940, Steampunk Doner Device?
Here is a neat meter from 1940! This one works but it needs the paper behind the meter flattened out as it has a slight curl in it that tends to hang up the meter in action. This meter is large. Weighs over 7 pounds and has a Bakelite case with a leather handle. Inside the lid it is dated 1940 and carries a serial number in red of 57046. I believe this was used with the W.P.A.
