The focus and intensity adjusters work. The trace is nice and sharp no fuzz. I keyed 10MHZ for the center freq and 15MHz for the span freq. I connected the HP 3585a to my Tektronix signal generator and a 50 ohm load and dialed up a rough 10MHz on the generator. See the HP 3585 response to that circuit in the photo below. It works! Cool. I tested it from 50Hz to 13MHz the highest freq of my signal generator. It picked up the 60Hz from my room lights. I got ... moreabout 3 divisions of signal. When I turned the room. Lights off the signal went away. It's very sensitive. The marker works- See the photo. You move it around with the black knob. The digital displays are all working. Fc and Span inputs work. This sale is for two instruments of very high quality and reliability; the Eberline RM20-1 bench/mobile Geiger counter. And the Eberline MS-3 scaler. Two cords, two probes and two BNC cords are included in the package. One is a NaI(Tl) gamma scintillation probe. The other is an Anton alpha/beta/gamma(or gamma-only, with included steel cap) energy compensated GM end-window type tube attached to a four prong base and with a BNC cable. The latter can be used with a purpose-built(project time? assembly for use with a calibrated absorber set; as it was in the lab. The GM tube works with any 900 volt Geiger counter. The scintillation probe works with either of the instruments in the sale, and will also work on any counter with adjustable voltage counter that can take scintillation probes. They can be used independently or stacked as pictured. Each ... morehas an independent battery input and AC input. Two 8 foot AC cords are included. The counter can be used with a DC adaptor which makes it fantastic for mobile lab use. I prefer a regulated DC to AC inverter for mobile lab use; as these can both be powered with very little battery drain from a vehicle with their regular power cords at a considerable distance using an extension cord. They can also be used with a standalone battery or series of flashlight batteries with a two prong adapter. There is a switch-selectable stabilizer circuit in the counter. The easily adjustable alarm can be used for round-the-clock monitoring or high rate alert. It really is just about the most universally useful Geiger counter and rate meter around. The portability and DC power jack make it ideal for a lab bench or vehicle. A dedicated battery can be used to power either or both devices.
