This rod was made in the early 50's before Garcia acquired Conolon. Shakespeare was the first to offer tubular fiberglass rod's after WWII and Conolon was a close second. Silaflex actually head-hunted workers from Conolon to start their business. Rod has its original hang tag with just a small corner missing see pictures. Rod bag has two small holes and its dirty but has done its job protecting this fine rod. Rod looks hardly used and well cared for. I have not fished this rod but ... morehave lawn cast it. Goodwin Granger 8642 ( 8 1/2') Special fly rod. 3/2 for 5/6 wt. line
This rod is structurally in great shape and ready to fish. Cane is straight. Varnish is smooth and unchipped, ferrules'pop' just the way they are supposed to, reel seat works smoothly. Problems are the 3/4' short tip, ridging on grip and discoloration of some wraps. If you're looking for the Granger experience without spending a fortune, this rod is a deal. It is also a candidate for refinishing. A light sanding and coat of varnish would probably have it looking like new. Or you might want to re-wrap the guides and ferrules to make it look even better. Either way this is a rod that deserves more steam time than I can give it. Tube is a new, good quality aluminum tube. The bag is correct, but I doubt if it's original.it's in too good shape to be that old.

Olivia's Vintage would like to present this rare 1954 Magnatone/Maestro triple neck 8-string steel guitar made with a combination of walnut and maple. It's all original with the exceptional of two metal brackets on the bottom. And is 100% complete with the exception of the emblem on the front edge, and the three wooden covers that rest over the tuning keys. It even has its original hardshell case. There are some nicks + dings, one very small crack, and other cosmetic wear including on bent tuning key. All electronics work and sound great with 6 Clarostat straight shaft 500K pots. J. L. John) Weir& Son varnished 8' for a 6 weight bamboo fly rod from the late sixties/early seventies in excellent condition. Labeled M801.22.8. J. L. Weir& Son were a small Western rodmaker located in Los Gatos CA. Their output was small and seldom do these rods find their way to market. Typical of Western fly rods of the day designed to fish larger waters. This rod has a'crisper' action than similar rods from some of the prominent Eastern makers like C. F. Charles) Orvis, H. L. Hiram) Leonard, James(Jim) Payne, Everett Garrison and others. 9 snake guides with an agate'stripper' J. L. Weir& Son rods had a couple of unique and distinctive features; Wood reel seat filler finished in oil rather than varnish. This made it very easy to'freshen' as needed without refinishing the entire reel seat. The Sterling ... moresilver hook-keeper is actually embedded in the front of the cork grip. This spares the windings and bamboo from any damage and also provides a'resting' place for your dry fly without crushing the hackles against the bamboo as with more traditional hook-keepers. The rod bag is heavy denim to protect this fine rod. A gorgeous rod with very light wheat colored shafts, brown silk guide wraps tipped black at grip, ferrules, tips(1 tip has two wraps of black and the other only 1, this allows differentiating so tips can be switched from time-to-time) The varnish is perfect. The ferrules are nickel silver. I believe the butt cap, reel seat hardware and grip-check are aluminum. The butt-cap is labeled WEIR& SON. The original labeled(label has some scratches and is covered with archival quality transparency to prevent any further scratching) aluminum tube and brown denim rod sock are included. This is a vintage Browning Silaflex in nice shape. Model 222930. Line 6 or 7. The rod is 8ft long. There is also a number close to the base. Shown in last picture, that is 548189. The base appears to be copper plated. There is a spot of wear on the cork about 1/4" by 2" Other than that, I cant see anything wrong at all. I also have a couple fly reels for sale on ebay. The photos show how detailed NWSL's products were. The engine is delicate and requires care when handling. With this level of detail things can come loose. A sound unit had been installed to the loco. But I don’t know if it functioning properly? You can see a brass strap on bottom of loco with wires and driver contact for the sound unit. Because it has sat idly for so long it does run a bit stiff and needs a thorough cleaning to bring it back to standard operating level. NWSL came out with this locomotive in the 1980's with a list price of $895.00 I bought this loco at an estate sale over 15 years ago. It has only been run on a test track. This auction is for a used HMG Graphite GTC 86MH-2 8’6” 2-Piece Casting Rod(equal lengths) that is 8 feet and 6 inches long when assembled and is designed for 10-25 lb Line and Lure Weight: 1/2– 1 1/2 oz. It has some stains and a few scrapes on the finish typical of most used rods. Which only affects the appearance some. The cork handle shows staining as you can see(I have not tried to clean it but looks like possibly the previous owner has cleaned it some) The integrity of the rod is sound and in great mechanical condition. Authentic 2-3/8" Japanese Glass Ball Float ~ With Square & 3 Line Marks Stamp
This old float is original hand blown. Has some great character and obviously saw much time wondering the Pacific ocean before landing on Hawai'i's shores. Its circumference is about 8" And measures about 2-3/8" diameter. From what I understand. This particular stamp is the symbol for the word" Kawaguchi" which means"rivermouth" these floats are manufactured by the Kawaguchi Glass K.K. There is a weird shaped polygon(almost like the island of Hawai’i reversed) Though the start and ending lines do not touch. It almost seems like it could be a crack. As you can feel the edges as you run your finger along the lines. But placing pressure. Tapping on the section etc. shows no give or sound that would represent a crack. There’s s similar 5/8” long horizontal“almost” L” shape line that has similar edge to it. ... moreDon’t think it’s a crack either. The 3 stamps seem to be partially missing due to chips at seem or faint stamping. Though are pretty definitely obvious for the parts that are visible and remaining. There are maybe a dozen air bubbles visible though 1/16" and smaller. There's about 4 chips on the seals edge. The largest about 3/16" long, most are a tad sharp to the touch. Overall a fine specimen of the smaller size glass floats which are much rarer than the larger and more common 3"4" variety. These glass floats are all original and are as found. and have the usual wear, bumps and impact abrasions from surfing the big waves found here.
