Not sure I would trust the straps? Could probably use heavy belts to serve the same purpose? They appear to be a heavy forged aluminum with steel for the spike, rivets, screws, buckles, and adjustable bracket. Measures as photoed 17" tall with 9 adjustments spaced 1/2" apart. Up for auction is a Buckingham tree/pole climbing spikes. Catalog number 9142, manufactured 2/83. These are in good useable condition; there is slight surface rust on a few areas of the steel parts. The leather straps are supple and the buckles are in good shape, however there is a bit of a musty odor to the leather. The Troll climbing harness is made in England. The belt is about 44" long in total; too small for me to try on as I have a 38" waist. This is a set of Vintage Melling Forging Company climbing spikes. It includes the spikes or gaffs along with the belt. The leather needs to be conditioned but is still in very good shape for its age. The only flaw is there is one rivet missing on one of the leg spikes. These are pretty much ready to be used or to be hung on the wall. They are a great functional piece of history and were used in the forest locally for climbing and limbing. I did take a close up of the only problem I found and that was on one side of one spike where the leather has a tear or been cut. Pair of older Buckingham spikes and Rose climbing belt. I'm no expert on either so feel free to ask questions regarding condition. The one is missing the foot strap which can be purchased on the Buckingham website. The leg pads show obvious wear and the leather straps show wear and have some age cracking. The gaffs have been re-sharpened at some time it appears. Model LC-5 16" The Rose manufacturing belt is in nice used condition. Each calf strap has the number 5301 9.each of the lower straps that are hooked to the ring have the numbers 5301 26. Both of the climbers have the Klein Tools name stamped on them along with the number 8210 L for the left climber and 8210 R for the right climber. Can be lengthened or shortened according to need. Main bar is 16" long before adding length. Lengthening bar is 7" which would allow for about 4" additional length. Very sturdy. We have available this older pair of Klein Climbing Spikes or Gaffs. And Climbing Belt with fabric pole or positioning/safety strap. Gaffs have good metal frames(marked 17-1/2) and spikes with old straps and pads that should be replaced. The Belt assembly is leather that is cracked& worn, and includes a good 6' fabric positioning strap. Just as pictured, used gear, all older with some wear, leather showing cracking.
