Custom Export Lumber Mill - Base Structure Only
Back in 1967 we were processing standard and special switch railroad ties for Koppers Co. in Oroville. CA. when we were approached by an associate lumber broker with two export companies from the Port of Sacramento, California. Their interest at that time was our ability to process large logs from 78" diameter to up to 20 feet in length to get around the non-processed restrictions on government timber exports. They observed our operation for two days processing large logs up to 76' diameter, 19' in length. Being we were a completely portable operation, they proposed moving the mill down to the Port of Sacramento yard to process government timber for export, subject to securing an additional 5 to 6 acres for said operation, to which we all agreed. Six months later they were unable to secure any additional port area, consequently ... morethe project fell apart. It has been estimated there would be approximately 65K to 85K cost to reproduce new the remaining base mill structure as is. All I am seeking at this time is anyone in the export lumber business that would have interest in this potential. I personally know how well this small operation worked and the residual value it still has for any interested party. I would much rather see the scrap metal value $7.200.00 price go to any one who could make good use of this heavy duty base residual structure. Equipment is being sold as is, where is.

Original circa 1910 real photo postcard in fine condition. NEAR MINT- Looks new to me. May show very slight discoloration due to age. Guaranteed original. EXCELLENT- Postcard will have no stains or bends. Card may have a trace of wear around the edges, and corners may show minor bumps and have light discoloration from album storage. Writing on front is acceptable on rppcs only if it is concise and enhances documentation. May be postmarked. FINE- Corner tips may be lightly rounded or very slightly creased. Up for auction is this rare divided back postcard titled Daniel Shaw Lumber Co. Mill. Eau Clair, Wis. The card was published by A. C. Bosselman& Co. New York, for Jno. T. Faber, Milwaukee, Wis. and printed in Germany. The card bears catalog number 5841. The postcard was not mailed, However, as divided back cards were only published between 1907 and 1915, so I feel safe in identifying the card as having been published circa 1910. Daniel Shaw Lumber Company was headquartered at Eau Claire. Wisconsin. It owned thousands of acres of timber in Wisconsin's Chippewa River Valley and operated its own farms, flour mills, tow boats, and general stores in the area. Eau Claire was once known as"Sawdust City" because it hosted numerous sawmills all along the Chippewa River. The Eau Claire River and Half Moon Lake. Starting in the 1830's ... moreEau Claire had the physical geography to set the stage for massive production in the Lumber Industry. Daniel Shaw owned not the biggest. But one of the most respectable mills in Eau Claire. He, along with Adin Randall(who left saw mill industry early) were the financiers behind the Half Moon Lake Canal. Daniel Shaw began his business in 1857 and ended in 1912, which covered the great majority of Eau Claire's saw mill legacy. He died in 1881 and his son Eugene took over. In 1912 the mill was sold to the Kaiser Lumber Company. The Kaiser Company closed down in 1939. The mill which is pictured in the postcard sat at the elbow of the Chippewa River where it turns south below Carson Park. The Shaw company also owned a large tract of land for yards which extended east across the river. As you can see from the scans. The postcard is in Good condition. The corners are dinged and there are some light corner creases, indicative of a card that was stored in an album. However, the picture is sharp and the colors are vibrant. This postcard is a must have for a Eau Claire. Wisconsin, or lumber mill collector. The postcard appears to be extremely rare as I could not find another cop

Lionel Trains No. 464 Lumber Mill All Original Vintage Item with All Original Parts This auction is for a LIONEL Train Item which will be shipped to you PRIORITY. I will be adding $ 3.00 for Insurance into the shipping cost seen. In case it seems too high. 464 Lumber Mill* I believe this item was made 1956- 1960 only. Dad says it's complete. And it looks complete to me. This was an item I grew up with and played with as a child in the 60's-70's. Mill has# 464 in the window. Seems to be running great. But we recommend only running it on 13- 13.5 volts as the best operating voltage. Too much voltage not only looks unreal, but has been known to throw the string off the pulleys. This is the string that operates the log pullers, and you'll have to stop it to put the string back on. No big deal to install string on the pulleys, ... morebut embarrassing when showing it off to your friends. We liked to hook it to a smaller transformer, so we could adjust the voltage easily while running it. SPECIAL NOTES: Dad bought this in 1967-1968. From a Lionel Train Service Center. He can not recall if it was brand new and factory sealed or if it was a used(trade-in) item. It's been too many years to remember. Either way at the time of purchase it was tested as perfect and looked new to us, still in original box with all original parts. The instruction Sheet has#464-57 on it with a date of 11-56. The contents envelope is# 464-58. Which tells us it has to be sold in 1958 or afterwards. The electric on/off switch is a# 364c Controller. 5 Round Logs go in, and 5 cut planks come out.all included. Purchased at an Official Lionel Service Center in 1967-1968. Which was our Town's local Lionel guy selling and repairing trains out of his basement. Please look at pictures carefully. They are part of my description. We always stored our Lionel carefully when not in use, no rust, water damage, or mice pee corrosion found here. CIVIL WAR ERA STORE CASH LEDGER 1861-63 480 PAGES LUMBER HIDES ETC. MILL?
Here is an old store ledger. Solid condition, that came from an estate in Ohio. If I read the figures correctly( the beginning balance Jan. 1861 was around $258.00. A year later the amount was $1000.00. 1863 started at $62,000 and was $95,000.00 at years end, when the ledger ended. I looked for clues to try to determine the store name, or at least the city, but no luck. I saw a few railroad names that I could not decipher. I did see T. H. O. R.R.If I read the letters correctly) I saw a 35c fare to Charleston mentioned more than once, and also expenses to Shelbyville. Ledger has 480 pages, all with info. Item starts Jan. 1861, and ends Jan. 1864. Nothing Civil War related mentioned. A collector who specializes in businesses of this area may discover clues that I missed, since I am weak in this area. I enjoyed reading the items that the store ... moreowner paid for, notated because these items affected the cash balance. Wife" sometimes got 1.00 or two, once she received 5.00. Here is an interesting clean cabinet photo of a lumber mill or warehouse or factory. At least it looks like that with four men standing in front of it. The street is dirt. No sidewalk. The men seem to be holding tools and one man is holding a book. There is no indication of where or when this photo was taken and no photographer name. The photo looks like late 19 th century industrial photo. The bottom right corner is clipped and the edges are rough. There is a crease on the left side.
