ANTIQUE BLACK FOREST CARVED WOOD FIRE BELLOWS - BRASS TIP
These are beautifully carved antique Black Forest wood fire bellows. The carvings are of Roses and Leaves. There are some nicks on the ends of a couple of leaves. Which you can't really notice unless you look for them and there is a bit of broken stem- please see picture. There is also some damage to the hinged side rim with a slither of wood missing. The two paddles are held together with leather and the tip is solid brass. There are no splits in the main part of the leather, but the leather has come away from the hinge and there is also a brass rivet missing by the hinge. Measurements: 73cm from the end of the handle to the tip of the nozzle and 21cm at the widest point. The brass nozzle is 9cm long. This old wood noisemaker is marked"GAS ALARM" so possibly it was used in the coal mines to warn miners of deadly gas leaks. I always thought these were for alerting neighbors of a fire in the area. The semi-ornate lettering is carved in the wood block and capped with metal. Condition is very good(slight damage to the tip of the L; see close-up photo) Measures 5.5" long. 15/16" high from base to top of letters, and 1.25" across. Recently rescued from an Estate Auction Recently rescued from an Estate Auction When it hits ROCK BOTTOM. I rescue. DESCRIPTION#667: Here is a wonderful LARGE. Old time COWBOY CAMP FIRE COFFEE POT. On the bottom it is stamped No. 33, Wear-Ever Aluminum, T.A.C.U. Co. Complete with a HINGED LID and BIG GENEROUS SPOUT, this great looking coffee pot is functional but also a great decorating or display piece. The pot is solid, no holes, of course there are lots of surface scratches that give it character, but no big dents or big dings. Only one that needs mentioning is on the tilt back hinged lid, there is a small narrow line size ding near the hinge. This old guy still has plenty of life left in him and he looks pretty darn good too. The black wooden handle has been in some"hot" situations because the very bottom knob is charred off. ... moreHandle on pot is very wobbly, needs tightened. This is the original handle and the original fastening hardware, see photos. This pot is large and it looks as if there may have been graduated lines on the side. But you can no longer make them out. I would say this coffee pot holds at least 3/4 of a gallon. Top of coffee pot has the original black wooden knob and attachment, is tilts back with the help of a secure sturdy hinge. Inside is no less clean than the outside, a little discoloration, but still looks fine. Spout is generous, diffuser holes in the pot leading to spout. The hex bar forks are made from heavy wall ex-mining rods, these things are heavy duty and won't bend or snap they are made to last. Extra hex bar and solid rod to finish off the project(see pic) It was originally being made to fit a Fordson Super Major front loader. But could be adapted to suit virtually any tractor loader. Gorgeous V Unique Antique Brass Wood & Leather Fire Bellows LOOK BARGAIN !!
Gorgeous antique intricate set of bellows in strong and working condition. This lovely old set of bellows are highly unique and have a gorgeous intricate design on the brass front plate. They are in working order but the leather although still supple could do with a really good waxing to increase its lifespan and movement, the leather has had two minor repairs(see picture 3) although the bellows are still working and could indeed still be used. The bellows are made from nice strong wood and come complete with their original leather, it has a brass front centerpiece which has a gorgeous and intricate floral style design, I brought these about ten years ago and I have not seen a pair like this before or since and they would make a fantastic addition to the right fireplace. Hartford Fire Insurance Co Brass Wood Plaque w/ Stag Since 1930 W.F. Teasley
This Hartford Fire Insurance Co brass and wood plaque is about 8 ½ by 12 inches. And the brass part is about 6 ¼ by 9 inches. The plaque reads This Agency Has Represented The Hartford Fire Insurance Company With Distinction Since 1930. And underneath has the name W.F. Teasley. The plaque shows a stag in relief. And underneath it in small letters it says Modeled By Lavra Gardin Fraser after Landseer. This was found in Nashville. TN. But I don’t know what city/state it originally came from. The wood has some small scratches along the top edge where it meets the brass– see last photo. And some scattered small scuffs and scratches, nothing major. The brass has a few dark spots and a little surface wear but is in overall pretty nice shape. Overall. Very nice vintage condition on this interesting Hartford Insurance item. Very nice Spalding Fire Brand offset head blade putter. It is stamped with Spalding in block letters. Fire Brand Irons and the Hand holding Torch CM. It is also stamped Putter 1H on the lower edge. Nice deep clear stampings. Heavy offset head. Dash line stamping on the face. The shaft is tight and straight with no cracks or repairs. Very nice overall condition with an old leather wrap grip. These are very collectible and I have been told that they only made these one year. Very hard to find. Antique Old English made Flip Top Fire Box featuring a brass patinated exterior with unique English Ships and Lighthouse. The top features a flower scene covered with a sheet of heavy plastic. I suppose to protect the top. The brass finish has wear due to its age. but adds to its unique character.The plastic cover over the flower scene has a small cut And possibly a small burn just on the plastic. It is signed by a Ethel Hall. This is a great piece to use by a fireplace. It measures approx 15 3/4 inches across 13 3/4 inches tall 10 1/2 inches deep.
