I think it's mad e mainly of aluminum with a glass dome lens. I really don't know much about it. But it seems like it would be a good one to convert into a regular 110 table lamp, ceiling, or wall fixture. It's pictured sitting on a roll of tape. There's a little piece on the side at the bottom that sticks down just enough to be in the way. It has 2 rivets that could be drilled out if you want to remove it. Not including that piece it measures about 12 1/2" tall. About 4 1/2" across at the bottom and nearly 9" across at it's widest point. It has scuffs. Scraches, use-wear, and some speckles of spray paint on and around the red tag. I have another one. If this one does well I may offer it to the highest bidder at the same price(high bid each) if that buyer wants a pair. It weighs around 10 lbs. unpacked. This is a vintage Appleton'vented explosion proof' lighting fixture'suitable for hazardous and wet locations. This is fitted with a thick'Appleton' brand red glass dome. And uses an ordinary 1 in. base light bulb. This has a slot for a cage but none is included. This measures 7 1/2 in. wide by about 13 1/2 in. long-the dome measures 4 1/2 in. high by 5 in. at the base. This probably dates to the 1970s. This has some wear-a small dent on the'caution' tag/light soiling/a few smudges and rub spots-the glass is in excellent condition-it still works. Vtg Appleton Electric 660 Watt 600 V Explosion Resisting Industrial Drop Light
Up for auction is a vintage Appleton Electric Co. safety drop light. I got this from an estate. I am selling it as is. I don't know anything about it. So I don't know if it's missing anything or not. Please ask questions if I've forgotten something. The tag on the outside is kind of worn. So I can't tell what type or cat.no. it is. On the inside by the socket it says 660W-250V 660W-600V The glass globe is made by Pyrex and says Explosion Resisting I think the fixture is made of cast aluminum(it is not magnetic) The handle has a section that appears to be bakelite although it looks like wood to me. The screw ring that holds the globe on has 4 small holes in the top of it. Maybe they are for a protective wire guard or something? If so. That would be a missing part. I put a regular light bulb in just to see if it works. It ... moreworks fine. It is in very good condition. Some scrapes and scuffs here and there. The glass globe has a chip about 2" long on the rim but is not seen when on the light. The ring covers it. The light measures about 15 1/2" long from top of globe to end of handle(where cord attaches) Globe is 5" tall and 5 7/8" diameter at the outside edge of the rim. Up for purchase is a hard to find Appleton Electric industrial trouble light. Model EHL-100. Tested and working although light bulb filament may not survive shipment. Light has been used and shows significant dings, scrapes, and scratches. No On/Off switch, you have to unplug it. Lots of chord, approx. 38' worth. I can likely save you some shipping if you don't want all of the wire as it is roughly half of the shipping weight. Shipping may be expensive to your area due to size and weight. I can't help that! Bottom of the light is missing the chord clamp. The chord clamp grommet has some dry rotting. Measures approx. 19" long with a diameter greatest at 5" Great industrial décor!
