K-LINE 2105 PENNSYLVANIA ALCO DIESEL ENGINE FOR REPAIR 2 MOTORS RUN EXCELLENT
This auction is for the K-Line O scale Pennsylvania 2105 Alco diesel engine for repair shown in our photographs. Both motors run excellent but the train is not running. When I was testing this engine at first it was running excellent and then it stopped. I opened it up to take a look inside. What I found is that someone had changed the motor wiring and taped up their sloppy soldering job with masking tape. The tape had dried up and some fell off. I think maybe a couple wires shorted and took out the driver(final) transistors on the circuit board. I checked the board with a voltmeter and the diodes are still good and I was seeing DC voltage all the way to the driver transistors but nothing out of the board. After the motors quit I checked them again witn an external DC power supply and they still run excellent. I took all the masking tape ... moreoff and replaced it with electrical tape just so no wires short in case you decide to test it before actually getting to the board repair. I did not re-do their sloppy soldering job. It's a simple project and you'll have a great running engine when you are finished. The headlight works. One step and the little horn on top of the engine are missing. We've supplied close-up photographs of this lot for you to view so you can judge the condition for yourself. Pages are yellowed ... moredue to age and many have stains from years of use. However, everything is legible. Pages have normal yellowing or darkening due to age and some have small corner folders and edge wear. As mentioned cover is bowed and there is edge wear, stains and other marks on the front and back covers. Book is complete and cover and pages are still attached to the binding.
