The company has been in business for over 100 years. During the heyday of tube electronics Hickok built some of the very best tools for radio and TV servicemen. Today the company is still in business. Manufacturing automotive test equipment. This auction is for a Hickok model 680 crystal controlled RF marker calibrator. Serial number 73-10661. This instrument is usually used to provide accurate"markers" when aligning analog television sets and high frequency radios. It can also be used to calibrate any signal generator from 500 kHz to over 850MHz. If you're looking at this listing you probably already know all this. Detailed specifications are shown in the ... moreright hand page of the manual in the last photo. This instrument was last used by me two years ago. It was in working condition at that time and still should be. If you plan to use it regularly you may want to replace at least the filter capacitors since it's over fifty years old. The cord also shows some cracking. But is still useable. This 680 comes with the original manual in fair condition. The manual includes full instructions for use, a schematic diagram, and a parts list. The 680 has sockets for up to 3 switch-selectable crystals(see 3rd photo) This listing includes the standard 2.5MHz crystal. Installing other crystals in the empty sockets would allow you to use the instrument at any desired frequency. This instrument is entirely unmolested and original. The rest of the components are listed in other auctions. This is a set so it will not be sold as individual items. The oscillator has two 1/4" rods so is of a dualpass configuration and the amplifier has one 3/8th's" rod. The oscillator module looks perfect. There is no visible debris or optical damage to be seen. The rod in the amplifier module has a very small speck dead center on either the output window or the end of the rod. Otherwise it looks as nice as the oscillator module. Both of these used external resonator optics. Since both modules were water cooled they will have to be flushed or cleaned in some matter which is beyond my means.
