Up for your consideration a well made vintage 1950s General Electric exposure light meter model 8DW58Y4 Made in the USA. It is in excellent condition. The needle moves when exposed to various light sources. The glass is in perfect condition. The slotted door on top opens and closes nicely. The meter easily separates but remains snug. The dials moves smooth and free. The fitted leather case is lined with what appears to be velvet and is embossed with the GE logo. The neck strap is missing. It's a type PR-1 for film or plates. Serial Number k42464. Made in USA. The dial is very loose and moves easy. It comes with a nice leather case, that really doesn't show sign of use. It's a Diamond case. it also has a loop for wearing on a belt. The box does show wer and has a break on the back. I picked this up at a local estate auction so it is untested but appears to be in very good condition. Runs in the original box with instructions and a Weston bag. Everything you see pictured. To be honest I'm not quite sure how to test it to see if it works but I can tell you that the wheel on the front moves freely and the needle does bounce a little bit when you rocked it in your hand. It appears to have been well taken care of and I'm like 98% sure it probably works fine I just hate saying that without knowing 100% For peace of mind in bidding always remember that I do except returns and am easy to work with should you need to do that. For sale is a vintage General Electric Exposure Meter Model 8DW58Y4 with leather case lined with reddish-brown cloth and instruction manual. Made in the U.S.A. It is intended for selecting the exposure settings of photographic film or plates. The meter has a removable hood with a slotted cover that can be opened or closed. The light sensor is likely a selenium photovoltaic cell. The meter displays light values in footcandles. The condition of this exposure meter is as follows: The meter deflects when the photovoltaic cell is exposed to light(see photos) However. It is not known if the reading is correct for a given light level. The black crinkle-coating on the body is in very good condition. The Exposure Index and Shutter Speed dial on the hood can be rotated. But they are a bit snug. The Shutter Speed dial is more difficult to rotate since ... moreit has only two small tabs to grab. The leather case stitching is in good shape. The front snap works properly. The leather surface has a few scratches and scuff marks. The instruction manual is actually for a type DW-68 exposure meter(The exposure meter being sold would probably be designated as a type DW-58) The only difference between these two types seems to be the colours of the Calculator dial. All pages of the manual are present and in good shape. Someone has written some characters on the front cover. This exposure meter is being sold as-is. Here I have a general electric polyphase industrial size watthour meter Model BV6. It has all parts intact and the glass cover is great! It is a big one and I am unsure of what the working condition is or if it may be good for parts only but it does good! It actually came out of an elementary school back in the early 90's. My grandfather used to collect some crazy stuff so now I am trying to find homes for some of it! The meter is marked 2.5 amps 60 cyc. Type V-4A 4 wire 3 phase 277 Volts. The tag inside is#33 259298. The length of the whole meter is 14 5/8" by 7 1/2" wide. When laid on its back the glass and back of meter stand 7" Just the glass cover is about 5 1/4" and the length 11" approx. The measurement are as accurate as I could get without taking it all apart which I really didn't want to do in fear ... moreof breaking something!
