The larger dish measures 9.25” tall at the highest point and 12” long a t the longest point. The smaller dish measures 5.5 inches high by 8” long. Offered for sale is a Duncan Miller Canterbury 115 Footed Serving Compote. It is in clear glass. NO CHIPS NO CRACKS It measures 5+1/2" tall by almost 7" wide at the top. The base is circular at 3+1/4" in diameter. It has 6 petals on the top design. In 1865. George Duncan purchased the Ripley& Company glass factory at 10th and Carson Streets in the South Side neighborhood of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania from D.C. Ripley, a former business partner of Duncan. The factory was located adjacent to the Monongahela River. Which provided easy access to transportation. A new company. George Duncan& Sons, was formed by Duncan, his sons Harry B. Duncan and James E. Duncan, and Augustus H. Heisey, who was married to George's daughter Susan. In 1874. John Ernest Miller, a 20 year veteran of the glass manufacturing industry, joined ... morethe company as a designer. He was previously the foreman of the mould shop at King. Son and Company. The addition of Miller proved to be fortuitous. Because Miller's designs over the next 52 years became internationally famous. In 1877. George Duncan died and James E. Duncan took control of the company. In 1890. The United States Glass Company formed a glass trust that included the Duncan& Miller operation. In 1892. Their factory was destroyed by fire, relieving the company of their trust relationship. After the fire. Son-in-law Augustus Heisey left the company to begin his own glass manufacturing operation in Newark, Ohio. James E. Duncan rebuilt the factory on Jefferson Avenue in Washington. Pennsylvania, where access to railroads was convenient, and the natural gas which was needed to power the furnaces was inexpensive. Construction of the plant. Which featured a 16 Pot Deep Eye furnace, was finished on January 3, 1893. The first pattern produced in the new facility was the well-known Mitchell pattern. This lovely vase was made during the era when manganese was added to the glass formula to keep the glass clear. Manufacturers. Such as Duncan& Miller, Heisey, Fostoria and several other manufacturers, did not know that the ultra violet rays of the sun would cause the manganese in the glass to turn purple over time. The amount of manganese added determines how purple the glass will turn. There is a very tiny chip on the curled part(see photo#6) It is so tiny we could not see it. Each tumbler has thin. Crystal walls with a thicker, hobnail covered band around the bottom portion. These glasses measure 5 3/8" in diameter at the rim and 3 1/4" in diameter at the rim. They would make excellent Highball glasses or Juice Glasses. Each of these tumblers are in excellent condition. One single tumbler has a tiny pinpoint nick on the rim but there are no other chips. This set of 9 ruby red plates are in good to very good used condition. All have ground and polished bottoms. They measure 6 3/4 inches in diameter. The clarity of the glass is clear. There are no breaks. Although there is minor scratch wear-not uncommon to used plates. There are also a few very minor flea bites and one slightly larger chip on the ground bottom edge of 1 plate- not visible on the top. These plates are beautiful with Rich ruby red color. French Lalique Duncan keepsake box. Measuring 3 9/16" square and 2 3/8" high, including lid. Signed on bottom of box"Lalique France. I have taken pictures indoors and outdoors- the tiny chip on the under side of the lid is so small it is difficult to pick up. It does not show when lid is on the box, and is not highly visible when looking for it. There is a faint little scratched area on the bottom of the box. Pictures 5 and 6 show the tiny chip, and picture 10 shows the little scratched area. Picture 9 shows the etched signature. Overall, this is a beautiful vintage treasure, and the price for the gently used condition is likely hard to beat. I do not know the age, but it is from an elderly lady's estate. This is a really nice set of 8 Carribean Luncheon plates in good condition. They measure 8 1/2"across. This is a really unique pattern that has a lot of character. These are not perfect but might help to fill out a collection. They all have moderate to medium utensil/ stacking marks. I see two with a small chip on the bottom ribs and two or three with noticable air bubbles. They are still usable without to much noticable issues. It's a really hard to find set of plates.

This is a bowl from their Caribbean Pattern and listed in their catalog as a 7” two handled bowl. The actual measureme nts are r im diameter of 6-5/16” and 7-1/2” across counting the width of both handles. Standing 2-3/8” high. Duncan Miller“Caribbean” is known for its beautiful and unique concentric wavy ring pattern of ridges. It consists of wavy ridges of glass ending in a scalloped rim with beautiful detailed handles. The Caribbean Pattern's ridges catch the light and reflect it like cut crystals, much more than just plain glass of the other patterns manufactured in this same time frame. He was foreman of the mould shop of King, Son and Company when Duncan hired him as a designer.
