I think the US Navy where the ony ones to use it. The transceiver covers the frequncy range of 38 to 54 MHz with power output of 2 watts low power and 15 to 16 watts HIGH POWER CHECKED. The receiver has also been checked and receives to spec. THe auction is for the transceiver, the AC power supply, a H33 handset, the original manual for the power supply and the maual for the VRC 13,14 and 15 radio sets and of course the dog bone cable. This is a very usable radio set for the Ham radio operator, and the navy power is supply is rare for the collector. The T/R relay mite be sticking as I notice a delay in going from receive to transmit and do not know if this normal. I am sure it is nothing ... moremore then cleaning up a relay as the rest of the R/T seems fine. Heathkit HW-101 Vintage Ham Transceiver 10-80 meters & HP-23 Power Supply
This is a nice old radio and power supply I got from an inactive ham at a moving sale. It is in generally quite good condition and clean inside. All the knobs are correct and present. Labelling is intact, and I believe all the assembly screws(inside and out) are present. The power cord is present too; these are expensive. I have aligned the radio per the manual and have had descent reception on all of the 8 bandswitch positions. In"Tune" the radio puts out RF as can be seen in the power meter photo. It"tunes up" per the instructions using the 2"Final" controls but I have not made contacts as I don't have an appropriate mic. No unusual smells when operating. The S Meter is appropriately responsive. I have not tried the CW functions other to confirm that a"beep" appears when the key is activated. ... moreWhile the rig makes good power as I mentioned, there is something about the operation I don't understand. When the rig is keyed as with a mic(I just jumpered the mic plug contacts) the rig puts out full power with no input from the mic. Hmmm. I suspect it is something in the VOX circuitry. I can't figure it out. The workmanship on the equipment is quite good. The wiring is very well done and the soldering is good(better than I can do. The tubes seem to be OK and they are all present including a fresh set of finals. Cosmetically this radio is Good. The face plate looks pristine. The chassis is fine, as is the dial. The green/blue/turquise case is a bit drab looking, and has typical light scratches and scuffs. Check out the photos. I've done some cleaning of the circuit boards and have applied DeoxIT everywhere it is appropriate. I don't have a manual, but there are scanned copies available for free downloading. I'll include a partial manual that I printed. The radio and power supply come from a non-smoking environment. Globe V-10 Amateur Radio VFO This is a ham band VFO covering from 160 to 6 meters. It has a built in self-contained power supply. This was built to match the HG-303 transmitter but of course it will work with any small transmitter. It is a very attractive unit with colored lamps indicating each band selection. It is very clean unit. Inside and out, with just a few marks on the top of the cabinet. From a non smoking home. I have used it with a DX-40, an Eico 720, and a Heath AT-1. I replaced the original selenium rectifiers with silicon diodes and the filter capacitors were also replaced while leaving the original can in place. This change is documented on the schematic in the included double sided copy of the manual and is visible in the below chassis photo. The upgrades were done about 5 years ago. It has been sitting on a shelf for a few ... moreyears but I just powered it up on the bench and could hear the output on all bands in a nearby receiver. Except 6 meters which I did not check. I also bench checked it with a DX-40 and it had adequate grid drive on 40 and 80. No other testing was done. Many are getting restored these days- sometimes these cool old specially made OEM meters go bad– Making replacements very sought after. In this case, we have an original set of the power output/ gain meters- exquisitely reverse painted, in Sansui's signature writing. These meters point top-up, each one moving to the receiver's output wattage. Having a dead meter movement is not the only type of catastrophe that may befall your 9090– it's far more common for the fragile plastic lenses to be damaged when moving these heavy beasts around! Lots of beautiful meters are lost that way! Spares are very rare to come by and truly excellent to have around especially if you do repairs from time to time. It's quite common to have one of these meters go out- as after ... more40 years of service they've moved a lot!
