Pair Simpson 4.5" Type A VU Meters SK525
Here's a pair of Simpson VU meters. These meters measure 4-1/2" wide by 2-7/8" high. They're type A VU meters and require a 3.9K series resistor to read at 0VU = +4dBm. The meters were a stereo pair removed from the same box. But you can see they're very slightly different cosmetically, one with a slightly wider"VU" that the other. They also have different model numbers, one showing"SK525-1080" the other"SK525-507-4" But the meters read identically and behave identically as far as I can tell. They've both been tested and work perfectly. Both are in good physical condition with some minor scuffs on the plastic. Domestic shipping shown here is for priority mail. My Brother Norm W1CIX became a Silent Key last year. And this is one of his last home brew projects. He was a Ham for over 55 years, and spent the whole period on 6M almost exclusively. And with strictly home built gear. He was fond of these crystal controlled converters, using a tunable IF, usually 7-11 Mhz, and usually a Command Set for the receiver/ IF. This one( as I have reverse deduced) uses a 6AB4 RF Amp, another as converter, another as First IF, 6J6 oscillator/ buffer, and an unreadable tube?S5 as 2nd IF. Power panel on rear deck for heater/ DC plate supply. Missing the crystal but I suspect that it needs one for 43.000 Mhz.

Up for auction is a vintage General Radio Voltage and Current monitoring panel with two Weston Electrical current meters and one Roller-Smith R-S Type TDN voltage meter. These monitored the input and output of a 230v/3KW transmitter. The first can measure 0 to.5madc. The second measures 0 to 15madc, and the voltage meter measures 0 to 4KVDC. I can think of a 1000 things this would be useful for to a the serious experimenter. or. A backup meter in my HAM broadcasting radio. control a colossal Tesla Coil. or a Jacobs Ladder. there's just no end to the possibilities! A new set up like one of these would cost you plenty today!
