The meter receives 3"D" cell batteries in the side compartment to boost meter sensitivity. The compartment looks clean with no corrosion. I have cleaned the tarnish off the connection coil inside the compartment for better connection. I took a wire and measured resistance on it. I set the dials to number 1. When I depressed the proper buttons the needle showed negative resistance and when I set the dials to 0 I got positive resistance. Although I don't completely know what I'm doing it appears the meter works with"D" cell batteries. I can not guarantee it's accuracy. The meter can also be use with an outside source of electricity. The brass housing is in great shape and all the cover markings are completely legible and well-formed. The original glass is in place and nice and clear too. But the best part is that the mechanism with its 6 analog clockwork dials is still there and working! The face looks to be porcelain and the markings are clear and sharp. The gearing is nice and bright and runs freely. Turning the stem on the back moves the gears correctly. Additionally. The padding ring between the brass and the glass is there as is the metal“spring” that keeps it in place when the meter is mounted. The meter removes easily from the housing since the housing isn’t bolted down to anything. There are several service( date stamps on the underside of the lid which ... morestart“May 21‘92” and go through some time in’499. I take it to mean 1892 since I can’t imagine this type of meter being installed new in 1992. But that seems like it might be a little too old. Would someone out there please clue be in? The dates were a little too small and faint for me to get a good picture– I tried! Please see the pictures for a more complete description and in case I’ve missed or forgotten to mention something. Also. Please don’t hesitate to ask questions or for more pictures if you can’t see something. I’m happy to help, but perhaps not the best photographer. Vintage ECO 98 Air Meter TIREFLATOR Service Station Advertising Sign Gas Pump Oil DESCRIPTION: Presented for your consideration is this Vintage ECO 98 Air Meter"TIREFLATOR" This is an original Air Meter on its original Pedestal Stand. The old service stations had 2 or maybe even four gas pumps. So those can be found if you really look hard enough however, most service stations only had one of these if any, so they are harder to come by. This machine would have sat out front of an old service station and since they were introduced in 1947, they would have serviced customers throughout the 1950's. If you are in search of a virgin original ECO air meter to mold into your own this is the perfect candidate. This air meter appears to be 99% complete and with a little work, it would make a very nice addition to any collection. This ... moremeter features its original internal mechanism that still responds, because when the crank is turned on the side, the numbers turn accordingly. It still retains its original light bulb socket and I even think the original light bulb is still inside. The glass face is intact and the porcelain dial is free of damage. It also still retains its original"ECO" name plate affixed to the back panel that states this is a model 98. It appears that someone has repainted it tan at some point in its life but, the original red still shows through in areas and I am sure a new refinishing would do wonders for this machine. The only missing piece is the small access plate that allows access to the base at the very bottom. It was just a curved piece of painted steel and I am sure even the most non mechanically inclined individual could fashion this part from a piece of steel. This meter was found in the back of an old barn and it does exhibit surface rust in areas however, it is only surface. I took a piece of steel wool to one area of the internal mechanism and it cleaned up nicely. The chrome trim pieces do exhibit wear associated with age such as pitting and loss to the chrome and a

Description Vintage Simpson 270 improved 260 Analog Millameter Volt Amp Ohm Meter multimeter VOM For sale a vintage Simpson 270 Series 4 meter. This is one of the best meters in Simpson lineup.Mirror dial, and improved accuracy. This meter is hard to find in great condition, and even harder to find fully tested. This was calibrated against my Tek 914 DMM. And show great accuracy. It also works without batteries for everything but ohm measurement, so that it will never be out of commision when you need it most. It comes with rugged military porbes that have bana plug and pin jacks, and 4 different probe tips, they are built tough to last a lifetime. It has none of the other bad design mistakes such as reversed banana plugs from series 7 on up. Newer digital meter will have the high input impedance of a DVM. Typically 10-22 Meg ohms, a Simpson ... more260 or other analog VOM will be much lower input impedance however, 5,000 to 20,000 ohms/volt. What it means in practical terms, it will be much more reliable continuity tester. Or even in my testing of amps, small levels of current. My Tektronix DMM did not pickup the current powering led, and moreover led did not even light up, while Simpson completed the circuit and showed a small current. The point is if you want to measure to 0.5% then DMM is best, but most of the circuits are built with 5-10% tolerance levels, so really it does not matter if you have 3 V or 3.15 V for the testing purposes. Check my recent feedback on a similar meter. Most of the meters here on E-Bay are untested. So that you are really flipping a coin when buying those, I calibrated it in Amp, Ohm, AC and DC- just take a look at the pictures.
