It is housed in a custom Paduak hardwood cabinet loaded with a Jensen C15N 8ohm 15" speaker. This 30 Watt amp works great and can really scream. Being that it has a 15" speaker. It does sound a bit different from the 4- 10" cabs. The cabinet is in good condition with some minor cosmetic wear such as mild scratches/scuffs in the wood. VOX AC-4 Original JMI 1964/5 Vintage Valve Guitar Amp Mullards Sixties 10/15/30
JMI VOX AC-4 Offered for sale is this lovely vintage Vox AC-4 valve(tube) amp made by Jennings Musical Industries in Great Britain in the mid sixties(1964 or 5) It is in superb cosmetic condition and very good working order for an original untouched amp that's approaching its 50th birthday(please see the 36 photos below for details) This is quite a find: internally it looks to be completely original- all the valves are the original yellow label Mullards- it sounds lovely. Though there is some noise as you'd expect as it's not been recapped. I was going to get this serviced, but there seem to be many different opinions as to the'correct' way to restore a vintage amp so I figured leave it original and let the buyer decide. There's a couple of rips in the speaker cloth and evidence of some sort of repair to the front ... moretop left corner of the case(detailed photos below) But otherwise it's a very clean-looking amp in good original condition. When taking the photos, I noticed what could be a very small tear in the speaker cone on one edge(near the white marking) I'm unsure if it is an actual tear or a mark. But it doesn't seem to affect the amp's performance. In my opinion the speakers in these amps aren't the best- m any players find that replacing the original speaker with a better-specification modern unit can really transform the performance of these lovely amps. Though this has been left in original condition for the buyer to make their own decision. Overall this amp sounds great and is a joy to use- aside from some noise that would be fixed by a recap- it's got great tone and a has lovely-sounding tremolo. Please be aware that it is a vintage amp and may not take kindly to being shipped. It will be well-packed. But if it's not behaving as it should on receipt, please get in touch. This is a cool old Masco amp that I bought a number of years back. I had it serviced by Don Butler who replaced whatever caps and tubes needed replacing and cleaned everything that needed to be cleaned. I believe that all is original except as noted(Looks to be fairly original with minor losses. And normal wear and tear. Missing one tiny screw which holds the control plate to the cabinet. Losses to tolex cover in spots. Rear panel appears to have been retolexed in similar material. including the handle and I believe that the speaker is as well. The amp sound great and is very responsive. This is a very cool amp but one that I need to let go in preparation for a move. This sale is not for Jason Lollars actual amplifier. Check out similar amps on ebay. This is a steal! Your looking at a great TUBE amp. I put new tubes in it which cost me $120 and it stopped working so I took it into a local musical repair shop where I spent $180 in parts and labor. I have played less than 5 hours on it since then. I decided to let it go even though I love this thing. Below are the details you need to know and make sure to check out the pictures. The outside. Other than the back was replaced by someone else. The speaker cover has a couple of holes, the corners are a little warn but what matters is on the inside and this things buts out a nice warm tube sound! Year: 1966(Circa) Manufacturer: Ampeg, Model: Gemini VI GS 15 R, Case: None, Color: Blue, Condition: Very Good, Description: The Gemini VI GS-15-R was a continued evolution in the Gemini Series. It is a single channel ... moreversion of the Gemini II. With tremolo and echo, also featuring a fixed-bias power section that bumped up the output to 30 watts. Originally intended for the accordion and guitar, it found popularity among guitarists. The amp has some interesting features, there is a"click" stop past the usual maximum point on the treble control. This was called an"Ultra High Switch" it serves as a"bright" switch. Likewise, the tremolo intensity pot has a"click stop" that activates a"repeat precussion" feature that was supposed to offer an echo repeat sound, it actually turns the volume completely on and off rather than just modulating it up and down. Like other Gemini amps, this GS-15-R features the famed Baxandall type treble and bass circuits that both"boost" and"cut" bass and treble, not just"cut" The cabinet is divided between the power section and the speaker section, allowing the speaker portion to be fine tuned with a smaller"port" type of opening in the back panel, while still allowing the upper"power section" to be more open and provide better cooling. Monacor 15 watt all-tube piggyback guitar amp. SUPERB!!
I had fun building this amp. Actually. I did little except to recap and retube the amp, add a grounded power cord, and slightly refurbish an old schoolhouse record player speaker cabinet to match it. The amplifier is a Monacor. Proudly made in Japan to the highest quality standards. It's VERY neatly handwired, using excellent components; typical of Japanese builds. It is a Model PAA-20. I'm guessing it produces 15 or 16 watts; plenty loud enough for a garage band; and the sound is all saturated overdrive, even at fairly low volumes. This was a late tube design, utilizing one of the last vacuum tubes invented, the 6BM8 triode/pentode. It has a pair of those, and a single 12AX7. The original Matsushita 6MB8s were borderline, so I plugged in a great matched pair of RCA tubes. The 12AX7 is new. The output transformer is tapped for 8 and ... more16 ohm cabinets, and the speaker is a great Quam-Nichols AlNiCo 8 ohm speaker, rated for 25 watts. The cabinet certainly shows wear. But it's solid. The entire rig weighs just 19 pounds, so it's easy to transport, and will be fairly inexpensive to ship. The amp head tucks neatly inside the cabinet for transport or shipping. Here is a Rola Celestion G12-80(80 watts) guitar amp speaker. This speaker dates from May 19. 1981(EP19) T3056) The Cone Code is 1777. Speaker is in great shape and sounds amazing. No rips, tears, repairs or holes. They have a nice warm tone with a focused lower midrange. A big thick sound, very Greenback like, with plenty of bottom. These speakers were only made for a few years. Not to be confused with the currently made Classic Lead series. Available for bid is a hand-wired boutique guitar amp by Dave Lancaster. Think of this as a hybrid of an early 60's Vox AC15 and a mid-50's Fender Deluxe: warm tones that Scotty Moore would've loved. Here is the marketing for this amp from the Lancaster website: The Essix 15 Sounds Like: The epitome of thick. Rich, warm, tube tone made to emulate the oldest and sweetest of all the vintage tube amps of the 50s. This is the sweetest, warmest amp we make. You literally can't find a harsh setting on this amplifier. Tube Compliment: Class A) 2 x 6V6 output tubes. 5AR4 rectifier, 1 x 12AX7, 1 x ECC803. Parts: The Essix 15 is handwired throughout with the silver alloy. Teflon-insulated wire that is used in military submarines. For iron, the amp has a custom-wound Heyboer output transformer, oversized Hammond power and filter choke ... moretransformers. We use Ora Cap coupling capacitors, the filter capacitorss are Sprague Adams and F&T German-made caps which are the finest capacitors available. Controls: Volume. Treble, bass, and slope. The"Slope" control changes the way that the treble and bass controls interact with one another. The controls are set up in order to have the widest possible range. The amp also includes a tone stack lift switch which bypasses the tone stack about 70% and also features a mid-boost switch(ala Vox boosting the mids and top, leading to a beautiful singing tone and allows the amp to break up a bit faster) The amp also has a line out/direct out. The line out actually captures the output of the amplifier by coming off of the output transformer thus capturing the true tone of the amplifier at a line level. Great for recording or live venues. Nice example of a 1994 Mark Sampson era Matchless Tornado'15 1x12 combo. Tube compliment is 1 Ruby 5AR4. A pair of EH EL84s, and 2 EH 12AX7s. Volume, Tone, Speed, and Depth on the front panel. And yes, all the lights light up. Amp functions great and has the deepest tremolo I have ever heard. You can go from light pulsing to sharp cut off. In other words.the depth knob has some depth! Good amount of clean headroom up to about 12:00 on the volume dial. Beyond that it starts breaking up and develops great chime and grind that only happens on a cathode biased EL84 amp. Up for Auction is the infamous Electro Voice EVM 15L guitar amp speaker. This line contained a 10 inch 12 inch and 15 inch. Check out the reviews.
