I do not have a probe for it. The probe I was using I am now using on the RF milivolt meter I upgraded to. I will send along a copy of the schematic, which shows a schematic of how to build a probe for this unit. I do not have a manual for this unit. I do my very best to describe every item accurately. Antique Portostat DC Voltmeter From 1920's
You are bidding on a meter made by Allen Electric Mfg. Co. and trademarked Portostat used for measuring voltage of A batteries for 1920s radios. These radios used tubes with low filament voltage. The scale on this voltmeter reads 0-2.5 VDC with marks for dead. Discharged, partly charged and charged. It worked when I checked it on a flashlight battery. The meter is copper plated and has no dents. I didn't see any scratches on the case and just minor scratch on the glass covering the dial. There is some discoloration at on the top left. Please see the pictures listed which shows the discoloration. I am not sure if it may have had a clear coat of lacquer or similar substance applied to protect from tarnish. I just can't tell. There is a small area of wear where the brass is showing through and you can see it in the last picture listed. ... moreIt was hard to get the picture due to lighting issues. It measures about 2 1/2 inches across the dial, 3 inches at the base, and 1 5/8 inches deep. This is one of Heathkit's neatest vacuum tube volt meters. It is extremely easy to use. You can check AC. DC- DC+, and 7 ranges of ohms. It even measures decibels. Everyone who does anything with electronics NEEDS to have one of these. Especially all ham radio operators. you would be surprised at how many hams don't have a device to measure voltages, resistance, continuity etc. With this you find out if you have a complete circuit, or if a wire is broken in the circuit.
