Picked this up from a local estate. I don't know much about this sort of item and have no tubes to test it and even if I had tubes I wouldn't know how to operate it or what to look for. Looks pretty clean on the inside. Outside latches show some rust. Outside case shows some wear here and there. Missing 4 of the rubber feet. I did plug it in and the eye lighted up and the eye adjustment knob opened and closed the eye. I also pushed the red button that says press to adj. line and the needle moved to the center of the dial. So I know those 2 items work to some extent. B&K Model 700 Tube Tester w/ Manual, 131 Tubes, and a quik-chek troublefinder!
B&K Model 700 Tube Tester. This is used to test various tubes. There is also an Instruction guide that tells you what to set each knob at for different types of tubes. I am not 100% sure if the whole manual is there as it is old, but there are 11 pages in the manual front and back on each page covers a lot of tubes. As for the tester itself I plugged it in and turned it on, the red light came on that indicated it was getting power, also on the right the yellow light came on indicating it is ready to test. I have a ton of tubes that were with this so I plugged one in and followed the directions, it lit up as you can see in the photos the tube lit up, so the heater and sensitivity work, I hit the test button and the meter barely moved, but the meter does work obviously if it moved when I hit test. As for the rest of it I do not know how ... moreor what it does. I buy storage auctions and all of this was in the unit. The case on the outside of the tester seems to be in pretty good shape for its age it has normal wear and tear but it is not bad by any means, the hinges on the case hold the case together but the lid will fall off if it slides out of the hinges. Also one of the knobs on the bottom row is missing. That covers the tester next I will discuss the tubes. Tubes- There are 130ish tubes maybe a few more or a few less but it is somewhere in that area doing a quick count. That is including the red thing with the wire you see in the pics I have no clue what that is, as well as various other random nontube items. I would say there are 120 tubes and then 10 other misc. items that are not tubes but are related to the tubes, I guess they are capacitors or something I am not sure im not an expert. All of the tubes are untested, I do not know if you can use them or not, most of them are out of the box except the ones you see in the cigar box they are in the box but I dont know if they are any good or not you will have to test them all yourself. Very nice Heathkit tube tester. Original circuitry and never modified. Works great. Truly tested. Inspected, lubricated and found worthy. It was tested couple of 6C4 tubes and performs fine. The unit is from the period and circuitry never modified. You get the resistors for your own rebuilding and the condenser. As a bonus you get the 9 pins novar socket silver bathed contacts and use the auxiliary port for this and also you get an extra chicken head knob functional with set screw. Cable fine. Meter works, cabinet was re-finished, handle works, lights work, neon light works, switches working fine, chart intact and works. Inspected for mold. A slide out built in drawer holds the tube data charts. Cosmetically show's some small wear and marks from age. But still in good condition.
