Here is a vintage Precision Tube Master Series 10-12 Tube and Battery Tester that's in very nice and also in as very clean condition. Its marked and was made by Precision Apparatus Company in Elmhurst New York and research told me the Series 10-12 was introduced in 1947 and that it was the foundation model for the Precision Series 10-15, 10-20, 10-22 and 10-54 models, research also told me that when these are found there wood cases are usually heavily damaged with scratches, stains and chipped from field use but notice in the photos this wood case didn't even know what field use was looking like new. I think the reason this is in such nice condition is that it was not used much at all, it came out of a very clean and well to do home and it was found neatly wrapped in a blanket inside a trunk. This has been plugged in with lights working ... moreas well as its meter working plus notice its also with many booklets. This is heavy and a large unit measuring with lid closed 17 1/4 inches long by 14 inches wide by 7 inches deep and it doesn't show in the photos but it also has four feet on its back side like showing on its bottom in the photos. Hickok 533 Vacuum Tube Tester W/ Crt Adapter
I do not know how well this tester is calibrated etc. However. It turns on, and the one 12ay7 tube I had to test it with that i knew was good showed as such.Needle moves when button is pushed. The reel with all the tube names and properties Is completely legible and rolls properly. Main and"Short" Fuses appear to work, was unable to figure out how to test the bias fuse, but it isnt obviously blown. The 9 pin socket I tested the 12ay7 appears to be worn, as the tube only lights up when not entirely seated on the socket and feels loose when put in. I am unable to test the other sockets. Cosmetically, In my opinion it appears to be in pretty great shape, but my vintage electronics knowledge base is layman at best. Whether you collect vintage Western Electric Tube Audio Amplifiers or if you collect vintage tube testers. This is one that you don't see every day. This is likely the earliest Western Electric tube tester you will find. It isn't even branded with the Western Electric name, yet, but is has the KS(Kearney Specification) number on it that Western Electric assigned to all of its gear. It also includes a blueprint for the octal to 9 pin miniature adapter that is included and the blueprint is from the Bell Telephone Company of Pennsylvania(Western Electric was the purchasing agent for all Bell Telephone companies) This is made by Hickok as their model 531 tester and includes the Hickok setup book and a roll chart installed in the tester. The tester is in good to very good cosmetic condition. I have checked the two tubes, installed a new ... morefuse lamp, and tested the tester and it seems to be in great operating condition. Has a meter for micromhos as well as an AC line voltage meter. This was my Uncles.A USN radioman during WW II and I believe he kept it as a souvenir but I'm not sure; I do know it has sat in a closet for 45 years at least and it is time for it to go. I'm old enough to remember tubes but have no clue whether or not this still works, but plugged in it seems to power up. Inside the case is okay, the exterior of the case is rough but structurally sound. There is some paperwork that appears to be a partial manual that goes with the unit. I had a tech friend of mine check it out and it is in working condition but will require a new battery for use. He removed the battery to prevent any damage in the event of a leak. It is dated 1972 and if it did not leak after 43 years I doubt it will ever do so. Still he is right so the battery will ship UN installed, these are 45 volt batteries that are still found on line but they are expensive at about 35.00. If you like to display meters and gauges in your man cave you will not need a battery and this unit is as nice as they come.
