Arms and legs are stuffed but his hands are rubber and he is in excellent physical condition with one exception, his string is missing. Has some wear on the fur and some love bites on ears and fingers. Otherwise in super vintage condition! This is a rare find as it is the first congressionally sanctioned one. It was made by the IDEAL Toy co. In 1952. Ones made in 1953 are stamped with the date so I believe this is the earliest first version without the date but with both the head and hands molded, which was only used in the first versions made in 1952/1953. The Smokey Bear image became so popular that in 1952 congress passed a"Smokey Bear Act" disallowing the misuse of the symbol. In 1952 Ideal Toys produced this Smokey Bear toy, that came with an application to become a Junior Fire Ranger. Notice the molded ... morehands which you rarely see as this early model is uncommon in the marketplace! He has been living in his custom made box for many years which has protected him from odors and dust. I am not sure if the tag is original but it is glued into his hand. 1960s Ideal Phantom Raider Ship W/Box
Up for bid is an Ideal Phantom Raider ship with the box. It appears complete with the exception of the instructions and any box inserts. The box is rough and has some squashing. Tears, splits, a few tiny holes and has some tape on the edge. All the flaps are present and you may be able to square the box up with some home made inserts. The ship did run until my batteries died and I have not had time to buy new batteries and test it some more. I can't see any reason why it should not work though. The ship measures 28 inches as a freighter and when opened up as the warship it is about 34 inches long. The only issues I can see is that the missile launcher has a tiny retaining tab for one rocket broken off but I found it in the ship. If you can find some very strong super glue it may be repairable. It looks like the ship was incorrectly yanked ... moreopen and it broke the piece and fired the rocket into the nest causing it to deform over the years due to the nature of the old rubber. Both masts are present. A little work on the ship and box and some batteries and you should be in business. Lot sold as is! All questions should be submitted at least 24 hours before end of auction. Buyer to pay shipping and is responsible for payment within 48 hours of end of auction and/or receiving an invoice from me. Massachusetts residents are responsible for the state tax.
