Vintage Heathkit Tube Tester Model IT-21, very good condition, fully functional
Up for auction is a Heathkit Tube Tester Model IT-21. This tube tester is in excellent cosmetic condition. There are minor scuff and scrapes on it. But nothing out of the ordinary for a vintage piece such as this. There is a knob missing on the lower right side and on the bottom of the unit the caps on the A& L levers are also missing. It is missing two foot pads on the left side and also on the back side it is missing one foot pad on the top left side on the back of the tester. Other than those few flaws, this is a very clean unit that has been tested and all knobs and switches and plugs& plug-ins appear to function properly. I was not able to test every bulb socket because I did not have all the sizes, I did have 7 different bulbs a few different sizes and each worked so I assume all the other sockets do too. The tester was plugged in and it lights up. But I don't know how to test it properly. The roll chart scrolls smoothly and the cabinet is in good shape, but needs a cleaning. Will test 4, 5, 6, 7(large) octal, loctal, 9 and 7 pin miniature, sub-miniature, Nuvistor, duodecar and novar tubes. Will also test pilot light bulbs. Socket-savers are mounted on the octal, 9 and 7 pin miniature sockets. Roll chart is spring loaded to keep chart tight and flush to window and may be operated from either side of panel. I have no experience with tube testers. But I used the instructions and the tube chart. My dad was an electrician. I remember him doing this when I was a kid. The wood cabinet is in good condition. I was not able to test this unit. It powered on and had no funny burning smells when plugged in. I know nothing about tube testers and had no tubes to test. THIS UNIT WILL BE SOLD AS IS! I took many pictures of the cosmetic condition of the unit so PLEASE LOOK AT THEM IN DETAIL SO YOU WILL BE AWARE OF THEM BEFORE BUYING. ITEM DESCRIPTION A vintage 600A tube tester by Hickok. It works well. May need calibration though. I tested the function with a couple different tubes such as 27, 80, 6V6, 6SN7 and all performed as expected. The power cord is flexible and has no cracks. The small grid cap adapter aged and a bit cracked at the base of it. There is an nice built-in scroll for tube settings included and it even still shows those two digit tubes. The handle. Hinges and clasps are tight and in good condition. Exterior cabinet not water damaged or cracked however, it does have marks paint splatters, and tears consistent with its age. I got this from my Dad about 20 years ago and never used it. Looks to be in very nice condition but has been sitting in my office closet. I have no tubes to test it but it powers up. Has a few marks on it in pencil and a red pencil mark near the center of the face. Has the original manual dated 1965 and the supplement for obsolete tubes dated 1968. Has some adaptors with it. Probably needs to be calibrated and gone over by someone qualified. It is heavy so I will ship economy and with insurance and tracking. If you want otherwise let me know at auctions end. Hickok 550X tube tester. Is overall clean and in good condition. There is some wear to the case covering(see photos) but still in pretty decent shape. The leather handle has some wear but still seems solid. This does power on and I tried a few of the functions and it seems like it all works well but I don't have the equipment to fully test the functions. US Navy Improved TV-7 Hickok Design- TV-10 A/U Tube Tester VG Cond& Working Reads out Mutual Conductance Directly in Micromhos. Top of the line. Military Quality. TV-10A/U Tube Tester. The TV-7/ 10 series of military tube testers are considered some of the best testers ever made. The TV-10 is a larger variant of the TV-7 and has a major advantage in that it reads out directly in micromhos and has a built in roll chart. The design is supremely rugged and compact. It tests a great many types quickly and easily and enjoys wide support. If you want a tube tester that gives great results with a direct readout than this is the one! The TV-10 is not a very well known tube tester. There just weren't very many of them made and they are hard to find. It is basically an up-scale version of the ever popular TV-7. Like most other US military tube ... moretesters. The TV-10 is a mutual transconductance tester designed by Hickok. This TV-10A/U is a pretty nice example. The outer case has its share of superficial dings and scratches but inside it is in great condition. Very clean panel and immaculate interior. The roll chart works smoothly and the tube tester works just fine as well. The only flaws worth mentioning is a crack or two in the plastic instruction sheet mounted in the lid and the power cord is getting a little stiff. I compared the readings with a friends TV-7 and this set was close but slightly higher on the tubes we checked[12AX7. 6V6, 6L6, 6BQ5] It has a Navy calibration sticker from 1968, so it's somewhat overdue for a calibration[several guys on the web will do calibrations reasonably] It measures approx 18" X 7" X 10" and very well packed[double boxed] shipping weight will be 26.5 pounds from zip code 24012. Radio City 808A/ 808AA Tube& Set Tester It would appear that this tester could be used to test tubes and other electronic functions. It comes with a lead that appears to attach to the back end of a TV cathode ray tube. There is a probe and some other leads as well. One of the pointer knobs is cracked in half. It might be able to be repaired but I will include a similar replacement in case it cannot be fixed. The rear of the wooden case has some mold/mildew staining which may or may not be cleanable. The wooden case appears to be made of oak with very nice box corner joinery. The handle feels nice and solid as are the rubber feet on the bottom. The plastic window for the scroll chart is warped/bowed inward on one side. This tester was pulled from storage and not plugged in or tested in any way- comes with leads and manual as shown- sold ... moreas-is/as-found. Lafayette Tube tester Up for Auction is a vintage Lafayette Model TE-50 Tube Tester. For hifi, guitar, amps. Comes with operating manual/instructions that show alot of wear on the pages. Slide out built in drawer. It is not missing 1 socket the Open hole was for future expansion that never happened and has been plugged properly. Cosmetically show's some small wear and marks from useage and age. But still in good condition. Overall the item is in very good cosmetic condition for being as old as it is(see pictures) The only test done was to power on item. Due to not knowing how this item works I am unable to perform any test. Therefore, item will be sold as is. As you can see in the pictures, the meter does move when the meter knob is rotated. This tube tester works great but does need a tuneup I've enjoyed having it. But don't use it much do I'm selling it and will be listing all my tubes in the next week too. It powers up and works great but could use a tuneup. The power cord is starting to Frey and the big porcelain tube socket is cracked and the small cord input could be replaced. The tube chart is a little tight and could use to be reset too. And there are dings in the case. But it still works great I've tested and sold tubes with it on Ebay and never had a complaint. All the meters function and are in great condition with out any cracks. And you can download a manual and updated tube charts on the internet. Please ask all questions prior to bidding. The unit does not power up when turned on. The case is in good condition with signs of wear and some damage of the covering. The power cord is in good condition and is pliable.
