This is a very rare WWII Submarine manometer. The dial on this instrument is black. With the numbers flourescent. The reason for this was that the instrument was placed in the conning tower, lit by ultraviolet, so no light showed to betray the submarines position(while the submarine was surfaced) Embossed on the top section of the black dial is U.S. Navy BuShips Aneroid Manometer Compensated. The lower section of the dial has embossed Taylor Instrument Companies Rochester N.Y. USA. Below that next to the casing is embossed Taylor. The back of the instrument is engraved U S Navy BuShips with the letter N inside of a circle with the serial number 959 and the date 1944. The dial size is 4 1/2 inches. The overall diameter of the instrument is 6 3/4 inches. The depth of the instrument is 2 1/2 inches.
