1955 Cushman Road King Step Thru Motor Scooter Professionally Restored
For sale is a complete professionally restored 1955 Cushman Road King motor scooter. It has the original 7.4 hp Cushman Husky engine with original factory bore and piston(not over-bored) I personally restored this scooter as a last winter project. I am a professional auto-body man and professional painter with 42 years full time experience. I lapped the valves and set the valves to the proper valve clearance. Every nut and bolt has been removed and all the parts have been gone through. The yellow paint is high end acylic urethane auto paint base coat/clear coat. The yellow paint is a Cushman correct factory color. All silver painted parts are correct silver metallic. I disassembled. Cleaned and went through the two speed transmission. Clutch is like new. This scooter starts in a couple kicks cold and one kick warm. I spent a LOT of time and ... moreconsiderable money on new parts for this scooter. EVERYTHING on this scooter is factory correct and well within factory specifications. All lights work(headlight high and low beam, tail light and brake light) Most of the wiring is factory original to this scooter and still in excellent condition. I have driven this around Brighton on several occasions and have at least 6 or more hours of riding time on this scooter. It is fun to ride. Brake work great, steering is tight(per factory specs) New primary and secondary drive chains. Transmission shifts like a 1955 Cushman(no synchro's in the trans so you have to either double clutch it or push the clutch in and wait a second or so before changing gears. Front tire is new, back tire is like new. The seat I made from scratch in the correct piping pattern attached to a 3/4" Birch hardwood plywood base with foam padding. I had a similar Cushman step thru scooter about 50 years ago and this scooter brought back a lot of fond memories.This one is a lot nicer than the one I had 50 years ago. LOL.
