It has buttons up and down the front and back that allow the form to be adjusted to different sizes. The tag is fragile but still in tact. The rods that are supposed to hold the form in place are missing and it currently just hangs from the bar across the neck. Some of the tabs holding the wire together are corroded. Moreso toward the bottom of the form. It stands 49" from base to top and the form itself is 32" tall and 31.5" around the waist. VINTAGE Retail/Sewing Composition Dress Form / Mannequin with Odd Metal Base
VINTAGE Very unusual retail dress form/ mannequin. We do not believe this was used for sewing. Only visuals. At first look. We thought this was paper mache’ as that is what it looks like. Upon 2 nd look. It appears to be a composition of some type on a rigid fabric covered base or silhouette. A separate metal section keeps the neck and arm areas at attention, so with this cover off, it looks like a robot of sorts. The base is a square one, non adjusting at 15” square and 8-9” tall. The shaft or pole that holds the top skeletal section and cover does adjust up or down some. Its at 63” tall now and it looks as if there may be a couple inched additional, and it goes shorter as well. However my arthritic hands cannot move the metal part at all, so if exact size height is necessary, this may not help you. If I stand right next to it we are about ... morethe same height at 5’ 3” The body part is 15-16“ across the shoulders and 33” 29” 37” The color presents in a pretty gold-bronze. The shell or form part is not perfect at all. But still works as designed. She has some noted wear at the one arm hole, a bit crushed and soft, but again still solid. One breast has a gash puncture-indent and she has composition flaking and loss over her cover. She sounds like she has a lot of issues. And well, she does…BUT she still works, retains that old school retail appearance and would make a wonderful display for an old dress or other show piece. I will ship this in 2 boxes as the base could damage the form in shipping. I have the larger of the 2 boxes estimated in the ebay window. Please understand there is a second box so what you see is not your total cost to ship. For sale is this incredibly cool My Double Dress Form Model B. This is from the 1940's. Has this great metal/wire flexible body that you can shape with the included rods. Rods pull out and in to form the shape. Wonderful snap together front and back of body. I have seen a few Model A's but it seems this Model B is rarer. Wood base that you can make higher or lower by inserting the peg. Both the top and bottom of the wood base still retain an original My Double label. At full extension. Model measures approx. 64" h with a base width of 18" x 18" Comes with the extra rods as shown. Such an outstanding display item. Would even be interesting to wear the wire body. Up for consideration is a very nice old vintage dress form mannequin. Fully adjustable cloth covered formed body with metal base. Unique design. I haven't seen one quite like this before. The last photo shows underneath and inside how it looks and the bolts that can be adjusted. Little tabs on the outside all over that can be pressed to adjust the size easily. Will easily adjust down and base will fold together for easy storage, or use for a display. Great condition with no tears or breaks. Some discoloration to the fabric as it was partially covered in areas so there is color variation. Looks like the top has a bolt missing which could be easily be replaced. Base shows some paint loss and signs of wear. A really great dressmakers adjustable form or display piece in nice condition, offered at a great price! ON A CAST IRON BASE AND WHEELS WITH A NICE FRENCH LOOK. This is an older dress form with a great look. It is a woman's body with the metal cage bottom and ornate cast iron base with wood wheels. The cage skirt is flat metal. The metal base has a stunning ornate design with the old black paint and says Acme form. It has a wonderful shape and incredible look with the body is adjustable. Some of the metal has rust on it. It adjusts up and down with the metal and the body is adjustable. Although some of the hardware is rusty, but they still move. The top finial pieces work in helping with the adjustments. The brownish covered fabric has minor stains. A few tears, ... moreminor fading, dirt and wear, as I show.
