In 1831, Joel Sweeney invented the 5-string banjo. There are, of course, intellectual discussions as to whether he invented it, developed it, or just played this thing in a new and unique way. Undoubtedly, Joel Sweeney was inspired by the beauty and serenity of these mountains just as we are today. What better place could there be than right here in the midst of a forest, surrounded by walnut, maple, and cherry trees, the very wood from which our banjos are made? In addition to finding wood locally. Some fancy varieties of walnut and curly maple are obtained from the forests of California and Oregon. In either case, the raw slabs of wood are cut to useable dimensions and then air dried in a climate-controlled room for up to five years. Once the wood is dry enough to use, it is milled to the dimensions of a banjo neck and aged further. The clear& frosted satin glass petal shade measures 14-1/2" wide. Has the original vintage pressed glass stem and a replacement chrome plated ceiling canopy. It's been completely rewired with a new 3 socket cluster, 60 watt maximum bulbs. The exterior petals on the shade are in perfect condition, however the inner scalloped rim is chipped in several places. All photos were taken with these areas visible. With all the petal tips in excellent condition, if this was hung on a higher ceiling I don't think it would be too visible. The spoon is not tarnished; it was difficult to get a picture without a lot of glare.

It is in mint condition. Pennsbury Pottery was founded in 1950 near Morrisville. Pennsylvania by Henry Below. Both Henry and his wife Lee had spent numerous years working for Stangl before striking out on their own. The focus of the pottery was hand decorated dinnerware and decorative items such as lamps. This is SOO cute! And unique. Apparently: I can't find another even close to this on eBay or online anywhere! It's a handcarved wooden sunflower stool. Difficult to date, and definitely one of a kind! The carving of the sunflower and seeds on the seat is layered. 3-dimensional and complete. The paint has flaked in several spots and is nearly gone on the seed center. The legs are carved as wobbly stems and curve outwards very slightly. Again. There is paint missing on the edges of one leg in particular, and a bit on the other two. What a great decoration for your patio. Porch or deck! Vintage Twinsies Twin Size Sunflower Sue Overall Sam Quilts Hand Stitched
These quilts are a special treasure because they are twins. In all of my treasure hunting. I have never seen identical twin quilts. These are twin size and measure about 68 x 83 inches. I do not know their history. But they are definitely Sunflower Sue/Overall Sam quilts. I was thrilled when I first glimpsed that hand quilting. Stitching on the boys and girls themselves. I do not know about the insides though.whether those pieces are hand stitched or not. What a treat to see the back in blue which also forms the border. Now for the damage. The backs are both faded. There is L shaped tear noted and two small areas where the border needs retacked. Another worn area on the border. One small areas has been repaired. The main issue here in stains.and they appear to be fingernail polish or perhaps paint. I am so sad about that. There are at least ... more5. I have taken pictures. But could not post them all. There is a blue stain, an orange one, a pink one and a couple others. However. If you love treasures like this, you will just wish they could talk. Freshly laundered AFTER I took the pictures:

Vintage 91" x 91" hand stitched sunflower quilt
Here is a large 91" x 91" hand-stitched such flower pattern quilt. Colors are much brighter than what I was able to photograph. This is a very beautiful and large hand sewn quilt. I always try to describe every item to the best of my ability and by no means want to downplay the beauty of this quilt. This is an estate item and I have not washed it since it came out the box because I did not want to ruin it by not knowing how to do this correctly. It does has a couple dark stains on the back and some faded looking discolored large stains on the back. I have tried to photograph this well so that you can judge the condition for yourself. There are 3 tears or areas where the stitching has come undone around the edges but I don't believe this would be that difficult to fix. As far as the front side. The quilt is absolutely gorgeous. ... moreI love the symmetry of the designs and the wonderful even hand stitching! The only thing I would point out(which I have also photographed) are the areas that need a little tlc such as maybe a clothes brush to remove the access"knotted" material which is probably a result of age. Once again, I have not attempted to wash the quilt and am selling it"as is" out of the estate box. I would however say that it is in overall nice condition just in need of a little tlc. It is a huge and absolutely stunning quilt to that will complement that one special room decor and I believe a treasure to that right bidder. This is an adorable Williraye Studio 2005 sunflower fairy. She is from the"Into the Garden" collection and she is a sunflower fairy named"Rosie. Rosie is standing on a flower pot holding a pink rose in one hand and a water can in the other. She has greenish color wings with a bird sitting on one of them. A big pink flower is on her belly. She has no cracks or chips and is in excellent condition! She is stamped on the bottom and still has her original hand tags. She stands about 7" tall. I do not have the original box.
