There is velcro on the sides of the unit, and has a scratch on the top back that isn't too noticeable. Each time I hit one of the film buttons, it makes a beep sound, but nothing comes up on the screen. Has a Serial jack a 12-18V 300mA power input jack, an RJ45 female jack, and a CONN connection on the top of unit. Says on grey sticker that it was repaired on 10/2012. This listing is for an AvTek model 2901A Time Domain Reflectometer. Which is used to detect cable faults by bouncing a pulse signal down the wire and looking for its return. This unit doesn't power up, and I believe that this means the internal batteries are dead or missing. It's in cosmetically used but good condition. And nothing appears obviously broken, but since I have no idea of its functionality it's being sold as-is, no returns accepted(unless it's substantially different than my description, of course) For this reason, the starting and buy-it-now prices are very low. Breaks, shorts, etc(see photos of the reference card) If you need to measure short cables you go to another window which just reports the cable length as a number. Cable capacitance is user selectable so you are not limited to the telecom standards. It also performs resistance, short circuit, and voltage checks and can be configured to produce an automated report of the line quality. This is used to find faults in telephone. Coax and other twisted pair. It will tell you how far down the line, in feet, where the short or abnormality is. They used to be used to trace if the telephone line is tapped. You would take measurements when the line is first installed and when you think you have a local tap, you again check out the line specs and where the change occurred and that will probably be the tap or other issue. I am unable to test this as I do not have the battery for this unit. It comes with the front protective cover. It indicates it will next need calibration in 2010. Assume it does not work. Tektronix 1503C Time Domain Reflectometer, Taken Care of and Very Clean
Excellent. Near mint cosmetic condition. Includes cover, 110 VAC power cable, BNC extension cable, BNC-to-alligator clip test adapter, original Operator's Manual, complete copy of Service Manual including schematics, parts layout diagrams and parts lists(about 1" thick)and TDR Cable Tester Calculator. We also installed a new rechargeable battery in November of 2013 that has had virtually no use. We used the battery to activate the unit for these screen photos but it also works fine on 110 VAC. BE SURE TO SCROLL DOWN(TO THE RIGHT OF THE PICTURES) TO SEE ALL THE PHOTOS. This TDR tester appears to work fine. HOWEVER, we do not know how to use it and did not have time to read the manual to put it through all it's paces. THEREFORE, WE ARE SELLING IT AS-S WITH NO RETURNS ACCEPTED. One positive and one negative, are what displays when we measure a piece of 50 ohm RG-58 coax about 17 feet long, shorted at the terminating end. Setup for this measurement is shown in photo#2. 5) The exterior of the unit including the cover and the storage pouch on top are in VERY good condition. 6) THE PRINTER DOES NOT WORK. It makes printer-type noises when you press the print button but no printed paper emerges. In short. It appears the unit has seen very little use and has been treated well. AGAIN, the unit is being sold as-is with no returns accepted. If you have some simple questions feel free to ask them. Just don't ask us to do a bunch of further testing.
