This is a Telephone Lineman's Test Phone. Type Number 333 made by the United States Instrument Corporation. This belonged to my Grandfather. Who was a Lineman Trainer for the New York Telephone Company, and was with NY Telephone for his entire working career. Her retired in 1965. So the phone dates from some time prior to that date. The phone is made of what appears to be black bakelite and ha a round metal press-to-talk button. The mouthpiece is directed upwards to collect sound better in outdoor conditions. There is several feet of cord but no connector on the phone. The cord is cut off neatly. The phone is hefty and weighs in at 1 lb. 8 oz. I do not know if this Lineman’s Test Phone works or not. There is a switch on the side that changes it form talk to monitor. Embossed on the inside middle of the handle is" Bell System.
