1949 CONOCO OIL Gas Station Locator Road Map IOWA Council Bluffs Cedar Rapids Handsome fold-out Conoco highway map of the state of Iowa. Printed more than 63 years ago. This map opens to 18" x 27" and has great detail on old road alignments. With cartography by H.M. Gousha. On the reverse side there are inset plans of Council Bluffs, Fort Dodge, Dubuque, Iowa City, Waterloo, Cedar Rapids, Des Moines, Sioux City, and the Spirit Lake region. The map was distributed by the Continental Oil Company in 1949 and is dated by the code number in the lower margin: W-9-2. The code number on the back cover is 12492. Population data is from the 1940 census. And little triangle symbols locate Conoco gas stations. Condition: This map is in very good.
