But note it is quite basic and utilitarian in its appearance and design, it is not decorative in the conventional sense of the word. not mounted on wood or otherwise adorned, yet beautiful in its simplicity. It looks like there is a spot where a bulb type thermometer was mounted on the"banjo neck" There is some tarnish on the edges of the instruments bezel and a nice honest patina. We hooked up a water hose(easy to do) to the compressors on the bottom for cooling. We then hooked up an air compressor to try out the CO2 injection(we don't have CO2) We put a little water into the reservoir for the humidity control. We tried it out and everything we tried seemed to work properly. The computer that controls it that is mounted on the front with the built-in screen powers on and seems to work properly. It includes Windows OS as well as the program that controls the chamber. We opened the program and were able to see the current settings of the chamber and able to adjust them some. The program is pretty in depth and I didn't completely know how to adjust all of the settings. I was able to lower the temperature and the compressors started up and started cooling the chamber down and maintained the temperature correctly. The chamber has a range from 4C to 40C. This auction is for a beautiful Lloyd's Hygrodeik ... moreby Tycos. Rochester, early 20th century, for Andrew J. Lloyd& Co. Boston. A hygrodeik measures relative humidity, with wet and dry thermometers, and an index arm indicating relative humidity on a scale. This is set in a metal frame. With wet/dry thermometers, index arm and engraved metal chart, and instructions on the back side. It measures approx. 10.25 inches in height and 9 inches wide. The reservoir is marked"Taylor Instrument Companies, and has a stone ground opening. We don't know if it is original, but think it could be. Both of the thermometers are in complete and in good working order. This item was copyrighted in 1902 by Andrew J. Lloyd of Boston and the base as a small plaque reading, Central Scientific Co. Laboratory; Apparatus; Supplies; Chemicals; Chicago; U.S.A. with a trademark. There is a painted mark on the right side, H107, which probably was an inventory number for a previous location.
