The baths are made of stainless steel treatment tanks of heavy gauge to resist the corrosiveness of paraffin and perspiration with contoured hard wood mouldings finished with epoxy resin. The treatment heat circuits have a maximum variation of plus or minus 2 Fahrenheit to effect the fastest possible formation of the paraffin glove. 12 American Indian Arrow Heads are from the Cole Collection of Macon County. Illinois. All were from the Dickson Camp in Fulton County, Illinois and may be seen by arrangement in Decatur or Springfield, Illinois. This information was with the group of 12. Dickson points were named after specimens that were found at the Dickson camp site in Dickson Mounds State Park. Fulton County, Illinois. Dickson points are very similar to Rice contracting stem points, however, they date from the Early to Middle Woodland period and are associated with the Havana Hopewell of Illinois, 2,500 to 1,600 B.P. They are large points which range in size from 3 to 6 inches, but the average is 4 inches in length with a width to thickness ratio(W/T) of 6/1 or 7/1. There are two types. One of which has a truncated stem, the other type has a rounded stem. on many specimens ... morethe base is slightly concave. man have a slight constiction where the stem joins the blade. Grinding on the base and stem edges is usually moderate when present. The blades are basically triangular in shape with excurvate, straight or incurvate blade edges. They were used as knives, because most specimens show the wear and were resharpened bifacially or with beveling. Resharpening by beveling is unusual for points of the Woodland period, however, 50% of the Dickson points we saw were resharpened this way. Dickson points are found in Illinois, Missouri, Michigan and Wisconsin. The vast majority were made of Cresent and Burlington chert, much of which was heat treated. The points in this group range in size from 3-1/2" to 2-1/4" long. The points will be mailed without the collection box. This collection may be seen by arrangement in Decatur or Springfield. This is a nice group of three authentic Dickson arrowheads. A-18 was found in Randolf Co. Mo, and is made of tan flint and is 2.125” long. It was purchased from the well respected dealer Larry Soss( Arnold. MO) E-80 was found in Arkansas and is made from Burlington Chert and is 2 5/16” long and was purchased from the reputable dealer Terry Baker( Brighton. TN) and is listed as Ex-Bob Herren collection. G-5 was found in Missouri. Is made of tan flint, and is 2 3/8” long. All have great patina. G-5 has a flea bit off the end. There is no modern damage. this is a early 2 gallon stoneware jug with a missing spigot. the advertising on jug reads[ h. dickson hats caps and furs] the lid also is stoneware and it is threaded to turn on lid. it also has a heavy metal handle to carry with. there is a very small chip back of spigot hole.
