HP 6186C DC Current Source Power Supply, 300 Volt Agilent
Hi- this is a rather awesome. High end, old school current source. This HP 6186C is about 40 years old. It has a single turn pot to adjust the output voltage limit between 0 and 300V, and a 10 turn pot to adjust the current limit from 0 to 1ma/10ma/100ma(selectable by a rotary switch) Due to this device's age. It needed a bit of work before I was willing to sell it. The rotary switch had to be cleaned(contacts measured about 100-1K ohms before cleaning, 1-2 ohms after) the 10 turn pot had to be cleaned(it had rough spots, but now is very smooth) and the incandescent bulb for the voltage limit had to be replaced(it had burnt out) I also checked all the electrolytic caps and they are all still performing well, so they did not require servicing. I then re-calibrated it. Note that you should expect any device this age to need this kind of ... morework done. So I'd advise caution with other auctions where the sellers have not been as thorough. Cosmetically. This 6186C looks great. No ugly stickers, no residue, etc. It has a few scuffs(hard not to when it has been on this planet about 40 years! This is an awesome piece of American made equipment that I expect will remain useful for many, many years to come. It was made in the era when electronics were designed to be serviceable- so things like cleaning out the pots and rotary switches are not excessively difficult to do. Also. Note that the only thing included in this auction is the HP 6186C. Other pieces of test equipment are shown in the photos but are not included. You get the HP 6186C, and that's it! Power Designs 2005 Precision Power Source 0-20 VDC. 0-500 MA. Load tested. Output voltage and knobs are working. The"+10" volts lamp works when switched to the high range. I did not see any other lamps working, so you can assume the other lamps are burnt out. Comes with built-in power cord. No leads or load included. There are scrapes, scuffs, stickers and sticker residue present. The Oven light flickers sometimes. The AC light came on when first powered up, but did not see it on after that. The meter works, but the V/MA switch needs to be jiggled a bit to get the meter to read the volts or amps. This supplies voltage drops out of regulation at about 360 ma, not sure if this is normal, Power cord insulation is cracked where it meets the body of the supply. May ship via Fedex.
