It was useful for testing low current circuits and components. The unit is fully functional with accurate metering. Each side of the unit will produce 0- 40vdc at up to 0.3amps. Or 0- 20vdc at up to 0.6amps. The two sides can be wired in series to obtain higher voltages. Each power supply is monitored by its own meter. Both of which may be independently switched between voltage and current measurements. There are course and fine voltage set controls for each side.
