Up for your consideration is a vintage Korean War Era U.S.M.C. Village Blacksmith Co. 1951 Meat Cleaver. This cleaver was produced by Village Blacksmith for the U.S. Military. It is dated 1951. The catalog number for this meat cleaver is: Cont. DA-11-009-GM-7353. There is a small area of pitting in the area of the"H Co. in Blacksmith CO. and the"7353" of the catalog number of this cleaver. But none of this detracts from this nice meat cleaver. The blade of this cleaver measures 8 inches by 4 3/8 inches and the cleaver with the handle measures roughly 14 1/2 inches from the tip of the blade to the tip of the handle. Vtg VILLAGE BLACKSMITH Meat Cleaver Butcher Knife Blade Chopper Forged Steel
SORRY. NO INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING. This is a Vintage VILLAGE BLACKSMITH Meat Cleaver, Butcher Knife Blade, Bone Chopper, of Solid Forged Steel. This cleaver is used and shows some signs of wear. The thick Solid Forged Steel blade having close to a 1/4" spine at widest point is nearly 8-1/2" long. It is approximately 4-1/2" wide from top to bottom of the blade and the overall length is 15-1/4" at longest point. This is a very clean cleaver with very low usage. It retains its two grade or beveled sharpened edge.There are spots of patina and or some darkening of the steel. The dark redish-brown hardwood handles are in excellent shape and held tightly by three brass rivets. The handle also retains the original sticker which is starting to come off and fade. Antique Cleaver Village Blacksmith - 8" Commercial Quality
Village Blacksmith full tang meat cleaver. The name stamping indicates this piece was made prior to 1940. Since it does not have the name Watertown on the blade. I am wondering if it was made in Milwaukee prior to 1907. The letters of the name on the blade are indistinguishable at one end. The'V' in'village' is very faint and'sol' in'solid' is non-existent. I believe this to be because it was hand-struck at a slight angle. It is a#8 8 inch blade length with a height of 4 inches at the hilt and 5 1/4 inches at the blade end. It is tapered towards both ends with a thickness 1/4 inch at the hilt. It weighs over 40 ounces. I try to be as accurate and descriptive as possible but in the event I have inadvertently used wording that is incorrect or confusing, let me know and I will be happy to work with you to try ... moreto resolve to our mutual satisfaction. Lg. Vintage VILLAGE BLACKSMITH Chef'/Butcher's Meat Cleaver Knife/Hunter's Ax
This very handy. Carbon steel cleaver was made in Watertown, Wisconsin by Village Blacksmith, once one of the world's foremost names in professional cutlery for chefs and the meat trade, and comes in a very handy larger size that is modest enough still so that any chef can handle it easily. It has been used and does have some hairlines on its handle, as you can see in the photos, but the piece is solid and will still provide another lifetime or two of outstanding service if you've a mind to use it. Handles were made of solid, premium grade walnut, triple-riveted onto a full tang. Its sharp blade is 7-7/8" long(13-3/8" overall) 4.5" wide at its widest. It is stamped with its makers marks near the center-top of the blade but we couldn't get a good photo; they're only partially visible but clear enough to leave ... moreno doubt who made it. This cleaver has some true heft to it and will make quick work of any game or meats that it may encounter, but it's still manageable for use oriental-style, as a chopping knife for herbs or veggies. Hunters may want to grab this because it is invaluable in the field. I've used extensively a cleaver very much like this for clearing brush and branches while hunting-quartering game, beheading fish-you name it, I've used it for that. Whether you're someone who butchers their own livestock or game, a chef in need of some heft in his/her arsenal, or simply something to throw at a target in your back yard, this is an excellent find, offered here at an excellent price. Antique Village Blacksmith Meat Cleaver Made in USA solid steel
Up for auction is a vintage Village Blacksmith Cleaver. Made in Watertown Wisconsin. Cleaver is in excellent condition with a nice patina. There are no nicks, pitting or rust. Handle is in good condition, no splitting and no wobbles. Blade is stamped with"Village Blacksmith Watertown Wis" which makes it a pre-1940 model. A great example of pre-war American craftsmanship.
