The A22 board is marked Series 2044, and by looking at U19,20, 23, and 27 it would appear that the A22 has a date code below 89351 from the manual. Since the ROM is the 5370-80009 this would correspond to the 2904Axxxxx serial series of the 5370B. So, even though the original 5370A was built in 1980, it looks like it has been updated to about the 1989 level of production. This unit is a good counter to start with. But really shines in Time Interval mode where it has 20ps single-shot resolution. There are also several math functions, and with averaging even higher resolutions can be obtained.
