Heathkit Color Bar & Dot Generator Model CD-1
I did not built this unit. It was done very well. Though, compared to many others I have seen. Some of the wire-to- terminal connections could be a little tighter and wire ends trimmed better. The color bar test pattern doesn't look very good. That may have been because of the way I hooked it up. I did not have the correct cable or adapters so there were some unshielded leads and it was out of the case. The parts are all original. Even most of the tubes still have the Heath Daystrom markings on them. I last used it in the late'70's and it worked well. I have not done any analysis or repair on it. I thought someone might want it as it was originally built. I do not have the test leads but it does come with the manual.

But it needs some TLC before it can be used as a reliable standard. Most of the resistance settings return reasonably close values(within 5% to the expected amount when read with a multimeter. However. Several positions, especially on the X1 and X10 bank, give readings that are off by a significant amount. On the 0. 1, and 2 settings, the indicated value is several times the expected value. We are reasonably certain that the cause of this is oxidation on the contacts. As working the knob rapidly back and forth will lower the indicated resistance closer to the expected values. However. There is always the possibility of unreliable components being the cause. The zenith manual just doesnt include the assembly instructions, since the zenith came assembled already, so it really doesnt matter. This is in great condition cosmetically looks really nice. This is a used. Good-condition, working EPROM eraser, Heathkit model ID-4803-H. It comes with the original Instruction manual. The eraser is in overall good condition. The bulb lights up when the switch is turned on. Cosmetically. The surfaces have no visible scratches or dings. The adhesive foam padding behind the front panel latch has dried out and is starting to break up. Quality of construction is excellent. The solder joints are good and the wiring is neat. The instruction book includes the pictorial page. And the assembly steps have not been crossed off. After we tested this. We removed the bulb for safe shipping. You will have to re-install it.
