Late 1800's hand carved side chair with claw and ball feet cabrio legs
Late 1800's Hand Carved side chair with claw and ball feet. One of a Kind Piece of Art! Hand carved mahogany wood with intricate carvings of twisting and twirling flowers and foliage. Cabrio style legs with stunning Ball and Claw feet. Large scale chair back with stunning curves and beautiful carvings. There is something so quietly beautiful about this chair. It has been around since the late 1800's and has years worth of stories to tell. It has been hand carved out of solid mahogany wood. Someone over the years had painted it a solid black paint. Due to the delicate nature of this chair we did not want to run any risks trying to remove or match paint colors so we have left it as it has been. There are many areas where it has been rubbed away and it is down to its natural wood. The paint that is left on the chair is in good shape(What ... morei mean by good shape is that the black color is a very dark solid black without the appearance of topcoat shadows. It is very old black paint but what is left of the chair is a thick. Dark and solid black. Chips, scratches and raw areas aside, the black is a very true black. It is by no means perfect, but what is left of the paint is sold and dark. There are lots of sign of age with scuffs and nicks. The way the chair has aged is honestly quite stunning. The way the red wood shows next to the black really does give the chair is antique character and charm. It is a finish that can only be done by life and age and can NOT be replicated by hand. The carved crest at the top in completely in tack and the hand carving is evident in every twist and turn in the wood. There is a chip out of one of the claw and ball foot legs and small chips here and there through the piece however nothing stand out missing. The left side of the chair back has snapped over the years(see pic) and has been repaired(not by us) but it does not move when we apply pressure(by hand you can not separate the crack. Antique Victorian Brass Spelter Onyx Tavern Table Lamp Stand LION HEAD FEET Base
This amazing table base dates from the middle to late 1800s and appears to be of American origin. It was most likely for a high end pool hall. River boat or similar and stands just 27” x 18 ½” across the MASSIVE cast white metal classical base with roaring lions’ heads, clawed paw feet, anthemion, scrolls and you name it. The 4” diameter column of reeded solid brass pipe is accented by a considerable disc of natural onyx and all of the fittings are cast and engine turned brass with traces of dore color. The surfaces are all original and have not been polished, so you will note spots of tarnish and verdigris under a protective coat of wax. Likewise the base has worn original gold paint under a dark wax polish that accents the details in the casting. The white metal has a missing anthemion and several structural cracks with late bolt repairs ... moreand some baling wire thrown in for good measure. The wrought iron reinforcements appear to be original. It is sturdy and usable and stands just a bit off-kilter. for auction a wonderful antique empire mahogany huge library table or partner's desk. it is 60 inches wide. 36 inches deep, and 30 inches tall. it has a full length drawers on both sides but they are of course on opposite sides. this is just a great piece. the double pedestal is so well carved and the feet are magnificent. it also has great carved corners. i took these pictures about dark so they lack a good bit quality wise, but maybe you can ascertain the quality and beauty of this table. it could have been made by thomas day, i am not sure who the maker, but whoever it was, the table is great. the feet are just the best i have ever seen. as you can see, there is a carved bundle of leaves and other items that come over the top of the stretcher and rest there. great piece. it may be picked up at my home or shipped at the buyer's ... moreexpense. i can help arrange shipping should that be beneficial to anyone. good luck. ps. i paid a bundle for it some time ago and am just trying to get the investment back. i just took a look at the pictures, they are a bit dark and i pulled it out of the basement as i have room in the house for it and proceeded to dust it off with liquid gold. i see that i forgot to dust the stretcher. anyway, a good cleaning would do it good.

The following auction is for a roll of string. It is not sealed shut.And a little dusty. Im calling it used,although it hasnt been taken off the roll.It was originally a 6 lb roll. There is right around 5000 feet on this roll. The spool is tapered. The hole at the top is about 1 inch. The hole at the bottom,where the sticker is, is about 2.25 inches This is the cord we use at work for extrusion purposes. It will continually come off the tapered spool. There is no knots or tie togethers in this piece. Its a single consistent piece of string. The tag inside says 1800 Denier 5/20/11.The string is a little heavier than kite string. Its pulls of the tapered spool nicely. We use this at work alot. I know it has at least a 50 lb break strength and it can withstand temps of 400 degrees F. without melting. It goes through a version of liquid salt ... moreat work and doesnt melt. The tanks it goes through are about 440 Degrees F. You can however burn it with a lighter You could tie a string to a kite.Set this roll on the ground and in theory(if the kites tough enough) You can send it up over 1 Mile. Old Sheffield Plate Salver/ Waiter with Gadrooned Border& Shell Feet C.1830 This is an early nineteenth century old Sheffield plate waiter with a gadrooned border and three shell feet. It is very pretty. This is an unusual piece of old sheffield plate as the main part is made of nickel silver rather than copper. And it is tinned on the underside rather than silver plated. the feet though are the usual thin silver pressing on a lead core backed by copper. I'd date it from the design of the feet to between about 1810 and 1830. Size: about 8 1/2 inches across( 22.5 cm) x 3/4 inch high( 2 cm) Weight: 424 grammes Condition: as stated the plating is very worn- but would look great with a bit of TLC and Nushine. This beautiful vintage was manufactured by Ellis-Barker Silver Companies in Birmingham. England and New York, NY. The company started in England in 1820 and in 1897 opened an American branch.The menorah mark probably dates back to around 1912 through the1940's. Pieces with the word"England" were made in the United States. The marks on the tray are the following: Menorah symbol and engraved"England" in script lettering on back side of tray. Also on back side. There is small number 27 under one of the handles. The tray is VERY large and substantial in weight. It probably weighs about 10 pounds. The tray. INCLUDING HANDLES. Measures 31" long by 22" wide. The measurement WITHOUT handles is 28" long by 22" wide. The border of tray is high relief. The surface of the tray is engraved with leaves and flowers ... moreand very detailed with leaves. Flowers and scroll work. The center of tray has s symbol resembling a of coat of arms. The words at the bottom on the center engraving are"DIGNITAS IMPERIUM NOBILITAS" The back of tray is supported by 4 raised feet. T his tray was acquired in New York in the 50's and it has been in our home ever since. The feet are very beautiful with a floral and scroll design. The relief patterns that circle the perimeter appear as leaves and scrolls. The tray is vintage so it has been used however. It is great condition. It has normal wear with light scratches on the surface of the tray. The silver plate is in tact over the tray. On the bottom of each foot, where the tray rests, there is a small area( dot) which is size of very petite pea where the silver plate is missing. A small dot of copper shows through there. The tray is a real show piece!

Raised grape and leaf and vine decoration in bottom of basket. Beautiful leaf and flower highly raised decorations all around the inside with cutout designs. Highly decorated paw feet with shield decoration all around outside bottom. Twisted knot handle. As shown in photos one of the silverplate balls on one side of the handle is missing. It took me a while to notice it and its not structurally necessary. Handle does not stand up on its own. Its quadruple plated and is heavy weighing 2 1/2" lbs. An amazing basket in great condition. The maker's mark is-CGH also in a square. I'm pretty sure this is for CG Hallberg. It is interesting as it is worked as a map, with names of some towns, and a picture of what is made or produced there. The dish has 4 ball feet on the underneath. It measures 17.4cms. by 9cms. approx. It weighs 3.5ozs. I have photographed it dirty, as I bought it, as I find it shows the detail better. I'm sure the dirt will all come off. Rod is in very nice condition with little to no use. No detection of any issues or any signs of wear. Near mint condition. Slight wear to outside of aluminum cylinder but no notable dings or dents. Someone wrote the letter“S” on the aluminum cylinder in red marker. On the bottom cork handle the letter“S” is written in black marker. A fine example in great original condition.
