Here is a nice vintage transit for surveying land. It dates from the 1920s or 30s and was made by the Warren-Knight Company of Philadelphia. This model was called the STERLING and was Patented in 1922. According to the markings on the side of the instrument. Serial number 2776. Made of high-quality blackened steel and brass, the optics are good on this transit. They are a little dirty so could use a cleaning. Transit appears to be complete and in excellent condition. Presented for your consideration is this antique industrial machine age transit level survey wood tripod stand. This is an early tripod constructed of brass and a very fine hardwood maple. This piece was acquired along with a solid brass Antique Herm Pfister Transit that I also have listed so I believe that may be the manufacturer however I can not locate any manufacturers markings. Folded up. The entire piece measures approximately 57 inches long. Each of the tapered legs measure approximately 54 1/2 inches long. The tapered legs vary from approximately 1 3/4" to 1" The uppermost brass mount measures approximately 3 1/2 inches in diameter. This is a beautiful vintage surveyors transit from the early 1900's. it's made by the National Level Company/J.C Ulmer Co. of Cleveland Ohio. They are makers of high grade engineering instruments. This is not your cheap multi production piece of equipment. It's made from quality bronze and brass with the perfect vintage patina. It comes with its original dovetailed edge wooden box which still has all of the original locking mechanisms in place but has no key. The level still has its bubble and the focusing is still operable. The transit is in good condition, with a few exceptions. The large lens has what looks like an inside fracture, but I can't feel it, and I can't see it while looking through the scope. I've looked at other transit's on ebay, and some seem to have the same fracture, or hairline in them, at the same spot, but don't mention it. When you ... morelook out the sight you see a black like cob web in the lens, and I was able to capture that for you in a picture. The only other note would be there is an adjustment control knob that is loose that I've pictured in fingers that is not controlling anything, but present. not sure what's going on there. The level glass, and bubble is pristine. All in all, not a bad piece. As shown in excellent condition showing very minor signs of use. Some wear to bracket that holds it in place. Has clear optics and bubble. Antique Vintage Berger 2K5295 Surveying Transit Level w/ Wood Box & Plumb Bob
This is in really nice condition all over and appears that it could be in good working condition but I got this from an estate sale and don't know exactly how it's suppose to work. Everything that's suppose to move appears to move good and the top part with the water in it appears to be in good working condition. The box is in really nice and solid condition but the hinges and latch are missing. The plumb bob is in very nice condition. This is a valuable tool I hate to part with. The possibilities for use with this thing are only limited by your imagination. Excellent condition with original instruction book and warranty paperwork. Hard protective case, and reflective target for use even in bright sunlight. This laser shoots a 200' beam and is factory tapped for tripod use as well. Very heavy duty milled from solid aluminum stock and weighs almost 3 lbs. Excellent quality David White product made with pride in the USA.
