Description: Presented for your consideration is this solid brass surveyor's level. Signed"Keuffel& Esser Co. 49681 NEW YORK" on the compass. This precision instrument features rack and pinion focusing, and a glass bubble levels. It measures approximately 14" long when extended x 8" tall. It is in excellent condition for its age. All of the adjustment knobs turn smoothly and all of the glass levels are intact with their original liquid inside. Also included with this transit is its original wood case. The case is constructed with dovetail corners and all the brass hardware is accounted for. The key for the lock on the case is also included which is a very rare sight to behold. An additional eyepiece shade as well as a few other accessories are included as well. I can not seem to see anything through it however, ... moreI may not exactly be astute enough to figure out how it works. There does appear to be a gouge out of the tripod attachment base area although this defect has no affect on the operation of this device and is just cosmetic. The Builder's Dumpy Level is in excellent overall condition for its age. The lens is very clean and allows the user to view objects either close or far away, unsure of the exact range, but when tested an object with 6" lettering was seen clearly and legible. The levels are also accurate. The tripod is in good overall condition, but one of the bolts for the leg does not tighten on the stand. The stand measures 60" in max. height. Includes everything that you see in the pictures. The strap that wraps around the case is broken, the remaining portion of what is left can be seen on the sides. Here we have something a little different and that would be a lietz 8048-70 Teleheight gauge that is still in its original leather case. A teleheight gauge is the tool used to establish the height of an item. This example is in Very Good- Excellent condition. Level bubble is fine. Optics are good, no cracks or chips, few specs in the optics but minor. Has about all of its original finish with just a few tiny spots of loss. Leather case which is also marked Lietz. Case is fine. Vintage Antique Surveyor's Transit Level on Tripod- Warren-Knight Estate find. This is a nice antique surveyor's tool, I believe it is called a transit. It has a telescope type lens and a bubble level. It rotates on a brass base and has four screws around the base to adjust the transit. It has a brass bottom with a threaded base that fits onto a brass connection on the tripod. The transit is marked with a brass plate"19-13230, Warren Knight Co. Philadelphia, USA" The Tripod has the mentioned brass connector at the top. It has three wood adjustable legs that are in two sections. There are black metal bands that hold the two pieces at the desired length. Two legs have two metal bands and one leg has just one band- it is still able to hold it in place. I have For Sale here a Vintage Bostrom's Transit No. 2 Pat.D. with built in level that is in very nice condition. This kit would normally come with a tripod. Site stick and a brass plumb bob and was called the farmers transit as it was very easy to use on the farm. All that I have here is the box and the Transit. The transit has nice brass fittings and tube showing very little corrosion and the sight glass lenses are clear with no scratches and the sight cross hairs are nice and clear. The dove tailed wooden box is showing signs of it's age( about 110 years old, Unit Dates to 1905 or 1906) but is good and solid with just a little bit of the veneer coming off on top. I found no names on the instrument itself. The lid of the wood box has a Griner& Schmitz service tag dated 1965. Model 1652. Leather case strap is gone. Survey Level Transit In Carrying Case Brunson Instrument Company
Up for auction is a survey level transit in a hard carrying case with latches. The box is marked Brunson Instrument Company. Kansas City, Missouri. On the inside of the box is a sticker showing that it was last calibrated in February of 1991. I have no knowledge of this type of equipment so I am unsure if it works, is complete, etc. so I am selling it as found at a low opening bid. I have tried to include several photos to give you as much detail as possible. The level on the top works and I can see"cross hairs" when I look through the eye piece. The transit appears in nice overall shape but is dirty in spots and there are a few scratches here and there on the yellow paint. The carrying case has scuffs, scratches, rust on latches, etc. It appears to have been used quite a bit in the field.
