PLEASE LOOK AT ALL OF THE PHOTO'S as they can describe better than I can. It measures 10 1/8" tall. 3 1/2 across the base, 6" across the center, the compass measures 4 1/2" across. It has three(3) 2 1/2" levels, 4 adjustable screws on the bottom, the telescope is 8 3/8" long with the larger end measuring 1 1/4" across, and the smallest at 3/4" and the box 11 1/2 tall, x 7 1/4 x 9 5/8. The contents are for the hard plastic case with strap. The instruction manual(still has plastic bag) plastic cover/tarp for the transit, and even has the original silica bags from when it was new. There is a cap on the lens of the transit. And from what I know of how to use it, it has self-leveled and zoom/focus was utilized and functioned properly. I must state that I do not have the many years experience as do surveyors and engineers. So my knowledge is very basic. Vtg Dietzgen Transit level in original box surveying instrument 37641
Here we have an older Dietzgen transit level or builders level. You are bidding on the instrument and original wooden case only. The wooden case or box is in good shape with scuffs scratches ect. And hinges work freely. The strap is detached because leather attached to box/where buckle is attached is broken, but present. This transit would be in good working condition but is missing a small part on top of instrument.previous owner told me the name but I have forgotten. Sorry! I have no idea on its use. But the bubble looks good, the cross hairs are not all clear. This instrument would be great for either a collector or for actual home or utility construction. I think it would make a great conversation piece in the office of an engineer or construction guy. Sold as is! Questions welcomed.
