Vintage L.S. Starrett Surveyors Transit Level Telescope Excellent Condition NR This level is in excellent condition. The bottom folding 3 legs have a little light rust. The eyepiece telescopes out 3 1/2" The site is clear. Cross-hairs are perfect. This level can be used or displayed! There is a tiny bit of missing plating on the eyepiece opposite end. See pic. It stands 7 3/4" tall x 14 1/2" longest. The round part is 4" diameter. No pitting on metal. This does not have a case or tripod.

There is some finish missing from the barrel, the box shows scuffs but is solid and all of the latches, corners and the leather strap are in good condition. There are no marking on the item that we can see and most of the sticker is missing from the case. In good condition given its age. Shows signs of use and storage from the years. Mostly on the outer hard case but a little on the instrument itself. Please see the pictures for a better look. There appears to be a brown burn type mark on the inside of the case that lines up with the mark on the instrument as well. Not sure what this is exactly. Here we have a Vintage David White Meridian Realist Model 8080 Transit Level with Case. Made in Menomonnee Falls. Wisconsin. This level is in good working condition. Paint is very good. I see no scuffs on the paint on the instrument. Will come off the base to go on a tripod. The black base does have scuffs and discoloration. The case does have a crack on one side and is quite scuffed up. Instrument is fine. The case does have a a number on the top which is M 714453 which matches the base of the instrument. It appears to be complete: comes with the original dovetailed wooden box(with leather strap) user's manual, plumb bob, sunshade, plastic cover bag, two pins and an adjustment tool. The level screws are tight. I did not try to force them: may need oil? All the other knobs turn freely. I think this is made of brass, with a gray finish. It measures 8 1/4" H x 12" L. Looks like all its parts are intact. Has a very easy spin- the top part moves easily side to side as needed fro the very sturdy base. Has two level sights and the scope seems to be working fine at least based on what I was looking at thru it. I don't see any sight lines inside the scope when you're viewing like what you see in a gun scope. Has the end cap. No box or tripod. I don't see any maker's marks at all- just some numbers here and there- a number 17 under the one end and a number 13 at the other. Compass moves as I move the piece. It's very dusty and a bit grimy.
